Now here's a question, if I get stopped at a weight station, can I buy that temp transit permit there? Or would I get ####ed instead for driving interstate?

No. They’ll cite you for being unregistered, place you oos, & possibly tow/impound you.

You can register in your home state. List the carrier as "responsible for safety" if they file ifta for you list their tax ID number as well.

If you switch carriers you don't have to buy new plates just Chang carrier responsible for safety.

You don't need the truck in your state to register it, you have to have the title, insurance and the contract to get an appropriationed plate in ny, then you can go get the truck and drive it anywhere.

Contract? You mean the leasing contract with the company? Apparently I can't get that until I get the apportioned reg. So if I need that, I'm kind of screwed.

What about the temporary permit I showed you?? What benefitted me in all this is I already had my own authority and insurance so the 2nd truck I purchased I was able to get a permit no problem... you kinda did it bass akwards...

I mean I already have insurance. Have the title, inspection done. The company is being difficult. They don't want to send a lease agreement until I get the apportioned reg. Even though a day before when I was planning on buying a different truck, they sent it over without me having any of the above... Guess I'll call them tomorrow.

As far as leaving the truck here and going to NY by other means. Yeah, I could leave it here in Indiana and take an Uber to the airport, then take a plane. But that costs money. Not to mention, I want to bring the truck back to have my mechanic take a look at it.

I just dont understand.... The company should let you lease to their authority and they provide plates and registration. Can you have them overnight it to the place your staying at there in Indiana??

I'm at a Loves near Louisville. Can they ship it here? Regardless, can't do anything now - Sunday, only dispatch is working.
