2.05-2.15 with a refeer seems pretty low to me.

2017 and the first half of 2018 weren’t like that. I can make a healthy profit on 2.00 or so all miles. I can make a profit on a 1.80 a mile too. I like having that cushion as rates fall so I make it through. The truck does great and the new reefer is using about half the fuel the old one did. I’m booked up until Wednesday morning right now, 2.36 all miles and 742.00 a day revenue. It probably won’t stay there, but it’s a good start to a slow month.

One trip in and out of Oregon is $120. They don't hold IFTA on their fuel, but often their fuel is still a dime cheaper than California ( even adding a potential 70 cents a gallon for what California's IFTA would be ), who has a monster IFTA rate now. It's not uncommon for mine to be in the $180 range. They $120 for Oregon is in addition to that for mileage tax.

It paints a good picture if you managed your money well and are new truck shopping. There are '19 Cascadia's to be had in the mid $140's already. That's down $20K from six months ago.

TallJoe and Scooter Jones Thank this.

It was a long week this time around. I’ve been doing short haul stuff in the Northeast and New England since last Friday. Picking up in PA today to finally get out of here. I filled up last Friday and spent all week doing short hauls, 2000 miles, 11% empty, 2 frozen loads, one being ice cream, 2 fresh loads, both of those were continuous, one load of candy, and one load of sauces, both had to be run on 60. Still managed to get a hair over 8.5 mpg and the reefer only used 30 gallons.

How many hours would you say the unit ran on 30 gallons? I have a 2010 sb210 it burns .7 gallon per hour on continuous.

I’m not too sure. I had two continuous loads though on those 30 gallons. I have a Carrier Vector 8500. Continuous loads are where it really shines. On continuous it will turn off the compressor and just move air if the temp is being maintained. That saves a lot of fuel. My last trailer was a 2011, manufactured October of 2010, and it had a Carrier 2500. It would use about the same as what you said. This Vector, so far, is half or less than half the fuel, the old trailer used. Even on a frozen load, start stop, it will stay in low speed most of the time. The Vector uses electric heat as well, and defrosts are much faster than the old Carrier I had.
