    @spyder7723

    I'm not sure where I heard it, but I thought Mercer wants everyone on electronic logs now, and the only people on paper there are guys that were grandfathered in.

    You are saying that they will accept older trucks on paper logs?

    I think he was talking about Packard.

    It sounded to me like he was listing companies that accept older trucks with paper logs and Mercer was one of them.

    Look on page 2 about 1/2 way down. He was asking about Packard.

    I guess we'll find out when he chimes back in.

    I see where you are talking about where he's questioning about Packard, but if you look two posts above that and he has a whole list of companies and he says they don't care about the age of the truck. I take that to mean if they don't care about the age of the truck they're older trucks that are not ELD required and they run on paper logs. Maybe I misunderstood him.

    I was speaking about tractor age requirements. Not elogs. Mercer and landstar require elogs on all new hires. I thought Packard did also but was wrong on that. my info on admiral is outdated, I'm sure they are still a fine company but i would suggest doing more research on them. Same with greentree and bennett.

    Edit to try and clarify. The federal government picked 99 for elog exempt. Elog compatible electronic engines have been around a LOT longer than 99. I got a buddy at landstar with a 12.7 ddec 2 hooked up to elogs. Many moons ago i had a 1990 year truck with a ddec 2 in it. So carrier elog requirements and carrier age restrictions are not necessarily directly related to each other.

    Wouldn't any truck that has a computer be capable of running elogs?
