I’m considering leaving the Hotshot side and buying a rig and lowboy trailer

Can anyone chime in what kind of per mile rates are you seeing as owner/op doing lowboy work?

    Is there a slow season?

Who are the primary shippers in the lowboy business?

What could I gross as a lowboy owner/operator?

What kind of lowboy trailer do you recommend?

The trailer is determined by what type of freight you plan on hauling driver. Your freight options become limited the more specialized the trailer is configured.

Imo seems like alot of the Mid West RGN guys are pulling farm equipment, tractors and combines and the likes. I would guess from the manufactur to dealer and from dealer to farm. Jobn Deere, Case, New Holland, etc.

Along the East Coast I mostly see construction equipment and various tall frieght that is tarped or wrapped in plastic, possibly Aerospace?

Quad axle trucks and tridem trailers. I'd like to get into pulling an RGN myself soon.

    Good luck.

I sure have been seeing lots of Chicago area Volvo's pulling them.... Give them companies any type of trailer the industry has to offer and they will show you how bottoming rates out is done!!! SUCCESS!!!! YES!!!!!

So $ 4.99 a mile is the top rate for a 94,000 lb machine...... perfect.

Im new in the game. Theres more to kt than you would presume. Trailers differ by region. Rates differ by state/commodity/urgency/customer and even weather. Rules/ regulations on weight very by country/state/xounty_and city.

Heavy haul from hotshot is a big leap. If Trucking was my primary source of income i wouldnt do it.

Heavy haul with a hot shot. Start a new niche. Just add more axles to those Big Tex trailers and load them up.
