I will be asking for my get out of jail free card. So I can toss my trash anywhere when the bag gets full. One less point that way.

I will also be asking for a get out of jail free card, for exposing myself in public, with children present. Since piss bottles are a big no-no. No need to worry about what to do in major city traffic stops anymore. Just step out on the runner...and let it fly.

Job/Home related stress. I'll be asking if it's okay to shoot the officer giving the test, and the neighbors dog. Less stress = less fatigue.

I'll also be asking WHAT drugs I can have in my possesion for allergies. That won't ding my score. Maybe water ??? I dunno.

Since my allergies affect my eyes, I need a get out of jail free card, for rubbing them to much too. They ##### itch like crazy.

See...... I've already lowered my score, with simple easy things a driver can do, to relieve fatigue.

Noticeable body odors and disheveled clothing would shut down half the drivers out there.

So what your saying is anyone other than medical care professionals can just nose around and ask questions about my medical background without my concent?

Yes my long form has a; Yes and No check box for Narcotic or habit forming durg use.
And it also has; "For any YES answer, indicate onset date, diagnosis, treating physician's name and address, and any current limitation. List all medications (including
over-the-counter medications) used regularly or recently".
The diffrence is I am setting in a doctors office with a doctor and not some schmo in a scale house.

Never have I ever been ask to produce my long form at a roadside DOT inspection nor will I show it. If they dont like my medical card then they are free to call the doctor and have him to fax it to them. I am sure that when a trucking company goes thru a complance review the long form is shown then, not at some roadside inspection.

The way some people are taking this is "well I gotta do what the officer says cause he/she has a badge and a gun and the power to lock me up or put me out of service" gezzzzzzz
Police and DOT inspectors have rules and regulations to go by just as we have rules and regulations. When they start steping over thers as with this stupid survey I have a big problem with it. And if we go along with it, it will be use against us in the long run.

This survey reminds me of what Ill was doing sometime back before the FMCSA made a rule to ban radar detectors from trucks. For 2 or 3 weeks every time I went across any scales in Ill a DOT inspector would step up on the truck and look in, some would even ask if I had one. I told many drivers than if you have one get it out of sight because for some reason they are checking just to see how many drivers use them. All most every driver I told this to said the same thing.."by gawd there legal and I aint takin mine off the dash". The FMCSA used the Ill "study" as to how many truckers used radar detectors and made the rule not a law to ban them.

No, I am only referring to the laws of HIPAA. They are directed toward medical professionals.

The law allows the officer to review the long form medical form. It also allows them to search the truck and find prescriptions that may not be shown on the medical form. Say the medical form is dated September 1, 2008 and shows prescriptions for gout only. A review of the medications in your possession shows some dated March 1, 2008 for Blood pressure. Why were these not listed?

You have been lucky. I have had mine checked 3 times in the last year. Good luck with the attitude when you meet the ones I have had. As far as the trucking company and their compliance review, it might be checked. I know that many find the officer in the field reviewing it for specific information. Some of the officers just do not care to look at it.

The reason the Illinois officer would check for the radar detector is that Illinois had a law against them in commercial vehicles prior to the FMCSA rules.
