Everywhere I have been. including Canada during the nationwide 72 hour blitzes, every scale that was open at all stayed that way for the full 72 hours. Many were closed so that they could concentrate the dot into the ones they were working. Or at least I assume they closed some to get the number of dot's congregated in one scales that they use.
Upcoming dot inspection blitz

Of all my "close encounters" with "DOT" it hasn't been during a blitz. IMO, they are too busy during a blitz to mess with you unless your stuff is really, really broken. There is more scrutiny in the random roadside stops from someone that didn't like "the cut of your jib" and wanted something to do.
dunchues, Gearjammin' Penguin, bentstrider83 and 2 others Thank this. -
I used to stay busy at the NM scales working on the trucks they shut down during inspections. I knew all the dot, some better than others. The way they operate is one of 2 ways, when 2 inspectors finish with one truck, they will either grab the next one, or sometimes they grab every tenth truck, Unless something is clearly visable when it rolls by. Or the truck they are suppose to grab happens to be a bull wagon. lol
D.Tibbitt, bentstrider83 and Lepton1 Thank this. -

The DOT got hip to that. Loves is giving free inspections. -
New Mexico must have started early. They have been all over the last few weeks. They even had one grabbing trucks on the Illinois Camp road today which isn’t much more than a poorly paved lease road.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
When it's a good time to haul a load of swine.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I've never been pulled in during the blitz.
When I was a company driver, they kept the equipment immaculate, I used to ask to get inspected in Colorado. Some idiot ran his mouth that we got a bonus for every clean inspection they stopped looking at usCorsairFanboy, bentstrider83 and stwik Thank this. -
Don’t drive garbage and they won’t even look twice at you. Now if you pull in with your shirt off and pile of trash crammed in your windshield they immediately think we’ll this guy doesn’t even kick his tires.
tommymonza, D.Tibbitt, Numb and 2 others Thank this. -
Don’t drive garbage and they won’t even look twice at you. Now if you pull in with your shirt off and pile of trash crammed in your windshield hey you got it coming. Also a good excuse to get the buffer out and make that fleet shine and show that you actually have some pride in what you do.

I have owed 2 new and 4 used trucks over the course of 25 years. Never buff or wax and might wash 1 a month to every other month. And hasn't really made a difference. I still get stopped every year to year and a half.
And as far as pride goes. I take pride in my family and how I have provided for them now and when I'm gone. Not how shiny my truck is. It's just a truck, anybody can buy one. -
Had a conversation with LEO this morning he said they gonna enforce offroad lighting devises. LED bars and such crap.
lilillill, Canadianhauler21, 25(2)+2 and 12 others Thank this.
