If you are on the road locate a good cb shop and see if they can check it for you.

It’s well grounded, I ran my own wiring for the linear and the antenna bolt onto a chrome mirror bracket that bolts to the cab

I’m local but I go towards a few cb shops in my area. The problem with the closest” G.I joe” is he won’t touch a radio over 7 yrs old

He “can” lol but refuses. It’s a qimmick to get you to by a amp and radio off him. My meter is a PDC2

That meter only reads up to 100 watts.

I did not know that. I’m thinking I have a 200watt dead key, really I don’t know what I’m looking at on the meter exactly

With the power switch on 100 watts, when you key up and needle registers at 2 , that is 20 watt deadkey.

You want a 1:4 ratio of carrier to pep, so if pep wattage is 160watts you ideally want a carrier of 40 watts, since that meter doesnt measure pep wattage you dont know what it is, but 1446 pills are rated at 70 watts so pep is probably 140 watts, thats what I used to see out of a Palomar 225, so if carrier is 20 watts I would leave it alone, amp will last longer with less input from radio.

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.
