Trucking isn’t right for animals, much less children.

Veterinarians and doctor visits. Doc-in-the-Box every three states ain’t going to cut it.

And you have another load that looks like it’ll be late. Or some other driver can’t get home since he has to repower yours.

Best to get a regional job as a driver. Family and pets at home. (In a state that has water, not ###### desert). Stay out ten days or two weeks. It’ll add up well enough. (Home every week won’t make money unless it’s the right location AND the right employer).

Focus on skill: pneumatic or haz-mat tanker. Flatbed & heavy haul. Etc.

    Trucking IS NOT generic.

And the yearly dividend. I'm still working on getting my license there. For some reason I can't get a load up there with s full week off haha. Maybe I'll do it next year.

Alaska is very alluring. It has owls and long nights.

Ha ha long days too, just depends.

My Alaska license I had to get the first time I came up because it was expiring before I could get back. I got it at kenai with a phony address, but that has changed and you now have to show proof of residency.

I have never put in for the dividend, no reason not too, just never did. I do know some that have gone outside for too long of a period and still collected it and been caught, from what I hear they are pretty strict and harsh on that. One of them was a trucker I know, that was not gone long, but he bought a resident hunting license in mn, bad move. lol

Its very cold up there. But there's something romantic about it in a way. It has long nights, low population, it's beautiful, probably clean air, etc. You and I both appreciate the dark. But yeah, it's very cold and I don't like the cold much at all. I like hot, dark, and humid.

can't do the hot or humid thing. lol
I flew out one january to watch my sons basketball tournament. We were outside smoking a cig when one of the guys told me he didn't see how a guy could stand the cold up here. I told him I am colder right now than I ever get up there. lol

Are you really in Fairbanks? I read Jack London. It can possibly get to like -70 sometimes huh?

My trailer is -30 but there is no wind. The wind is what kills me. Last winter I was in the Dakotas and it was about 12-19 degrees, but because of the wind it was brutal. I was trying to get fuel and put some wiper fluid in my truck and it felt like I was being stabbed all over. It was worse than trying to put chains on my tires in Colorado when it wasn't much warmer but no wind.

Friend of mine from Fairbanks is a retired owner-operator. Making $10K a month retirement plus social security. He bought a beachfront condo in Vietnam and living the good life now with 2 live-in girlfriends.

I left Vietnam during the war and flew back to the states with Capital Airways which was leased to the military and I think it was doing some work for Evergreen Airlines and Air America. Southern Air in Florida took over when Air America shut down.
Anyway, we were told we would make a stop in Adak, Alaska then on to our final destination of Travis Air Force Base in California. All the troops fell asleep on takeoff and we didn't wake until the plane touched down. We looked outside and palm trees and sunshine is what we saw. Dang, didn't know Alaska looks like this. The stewardesses started laughing at us and told us the flight had been diverted to Hawaii.
Never been to Alaska, but understand the mosquito's are huge.
