    MX-13 EPA17 rod cap as removed from engine, bearing is looking depleted. 5200 miles/400 hours.

    @Caesar above is a fine example of the MX 13.............

    I personally know of 2 engines that did the same thing....both ended in catastrophic failure.

    That was the only rod cap removed. Rear mains were pulled, they had debris but not trashed. It is getting long block under warranty. Probably never know, but I wonder what root cause was. Had torque contribution code for that cylinder. I would lean towards over fueling/,misfiring injector or bearing/cap installation error.

    Or 10W-30 and lower oil pressure from the vane variable displacement oil pump...
    30 pounds just doesn't make me comfy.

    I'm more leaned to a poor quality control/assurance at the factory. US automotive industry is currently famous for it poor quality compared to other countries. We are currently having lots of problems with our newer equipment imported from USA, while the equipment imported from Brasil is doing quite well (And our Brasilian equipment have the same MX13, while the US equipment is still coming with Cummins).
