Of course it is. Do you really think that Paccar came up with the idea to build another niche market truck? Don't forget, the W900 is a niche market truck.

man larger engines were always disaster.
they even manage to destroy holly MB engines they were using.

this is what have to be, politic decision are more important than logic, btw i have explained both logic and political decision in my post. MAN dont have serious brand image, it is yet another boring truck

i have explained that too, you cant do that on trucks, and this is exactly what vw is going to do.

i know that you feel bad that you drive communist car, which explains well why you are so much against trump

this is a point, you buy by emotions and you are spending more money on audi than its real value.
problem is that vw is going to make same thing with trucks.
so you are going to buy man/škoda as similar truck as scania/audi

That is what was said about T880 replacing T800, but T800 sales have been stronger than ever. Paccar will build what sells!

That's right. A niche market of owner operators that want a big long straight hood, narrow cab, big pipes and big stainless steel vortex style breathers. You really think that market is going to buy this truck? Ask freightliner how that worked out when they replaced the big hood big ss breathers classic with the aerodynamic coronado.

Heck even the vp and gm of kenworth basically said this when they unvieled the w990 at the las vegas truck show. "Dont worry, we will continue to produce the w900L for as long as there is a demand."

I will give you another basic economics rule. Offering many different types of trucks, that in fact don't differ that much at all, but only appear to be different, is extremely expensive. Three guesses who is paying for that.

Yes, of course. You are paying for that extravagance.

    BS.
    No way .
I would prefer a plastic Iveco over a 16L Volvo.

Friend off mine had one...........sold it before it was a year old.

Other guy i know has 3.
Heavy haul, needs the power BUT even he admits they are NOT good on fuel.
They would put a alcoholic to shame.

If you want to look at it in basic terms, sure. But to say, as an example, that a W900 and a C500 are very similar is just wrong. So wrong. They might look similar IE share the B cab but the C500 is a heavy spec, extreme duty truck. Sure you can order a W900 with a 20k steer and 46k rears but the C500 is a much heavier built truck.

Just like with pickup trucks. For decades Chevy/GM used the same body (aside from the front clip) on their half tons as they did on their 3/4 and 1 tons. Why build 3 different pickup bodies when they can just drop the same cab and box on a heavier frame? Cost effectiveness.
