So using common parts across product lines doesn't make sense?

    They are.

GD489HX (as posted on picture above in my previous post) was 07' E4 Fh16 540
    GD541HX was normal 480.

And that was driving on limiter. Even our super-duper E6 510 Dafs are using 32-33 when driving on speed limiter. So, where is all the technological progress? There's none. It just proves my theory that low rpm economy is BS. You need power.

And those were our E6 Dafs back when we used to drive on speed limiter (90km/h). About same time we had those old Volvos (same trailers etc.)

So LESS economical than thirsty, useless 16 liter 10 year old Volvo.

That isnt the point or even remotely related to the topic at hand. You made the wild claim that the w900L has been replaced by the 990 when in fact there are zero plans to stop producing the w900.

I don't know where you got your numbers but i don't buy it.
Any truck is better on fuel then a 16l volvo.
You cannot give them away here.
In fact they sold 1 new,yes 1, in the last 10y.
Other one was bought second hand by the guy i know because it was only 6 months old and nobody wanted it.
He offered volvo a ridicilous low bid on it and volvo accepted it because they could not find anyone to buy it.
Even he says they suck on fuel.

I'm glad you earned money with it but ..............last truck i would ever want to own is a volvo with a 16l.

That is because you don't know how to translate "Dont worry, we will continue to produce the w900L for as long as there is a demand.". It is company talk for "We want to kill it as soon as possible, without causing too much of a stir."

So that's why the T800 is still here, 6 years after the introduction of the T880?

There are still a ton of new T800's rolling off the lot. They're probably more popular than the W900 from what I see out here.
