Look right back behind the air compressor, drivers side rectangular opening (basically at #3 cylinder) with 4 bolt holes. If your engine does not have the block style crankcase breather , it will have a block off plate over that opening IF it's a newer block.

Its a bit of a pain looking at SIS on my phone but will try and remember when I have my laptop out next. Thing is with SIS if you search by prefix only you get absolutely everything available. When you search with a specific S/N you get the info pertinent to that specific engine as it left the factory. It is entirely possible that different block P/N's were used on engines produced within the same S/N break and that would explain why some have it and some don't.

  4. @snowman_w900 I can take a pic of my MXS with the breather tube. I realize it's not the 5EK block.

    Not my block

Hey @peterbilt_2005 you referring to the style that comes right off one of the valve covers?

(Not the old style E model)

Do you have the oil canister that catches the oil out the of blowby tube I'm assuming, some had it some didn't

The oil canister was added at the dealer after the engines were made to deal with slobber complaints. Lots of the twins never got it installed.

So the original complaint is you have to wait to check oil? How long? I cant see any other way you know oil is getting held in the top end

It seems like over an hour, maybe not quite so bad. But always before itwas right now. I could change the oil crank it and build pressure then recheck it right away.
I changed it today and rechecked it pretty quick and it showed well over a gallon low, close to two, once it drained, it was right on the line.
No plate with 4 bolts on mine, unless it is where the fuel filter mount is.

I usually give it 30 seconds or so to check oil level.
If the breather was plugged, it would blow out oil seals

Was the engine cold? That's the only reason I could think of that would increase the drain back time. Obviously colder the oil, longer it will take.
