ptrblt, you can do it man. Just hang in there. It will get better. Ive been off the road for a while and have been doing some serious research about all the available companies out there and i've gotta tell yeah from all ive seen crete is one of the best choices out there right now. Just don't give up and don't lose heart and do the best you can and it'll get better. Good luck and please keep us posted!!

Yeah, that is understandable. But this is what you NEED to hear. Of course, only you can make the decision, but I think a year from now you will be thanking yourself, and these forum members, if you stay where you are.

I second the get a bike advice. When you are sitting, is a good time to get some exercise, and see whatever is immediately around you. Exercising due care for your personal safety, of course.

You can bet your last dollar that the company is getting top dollar for
    hauling a haz-mat load.

And if you are not getting paid any more to haul haz mat than regular
freight than they are not doing right by you. You are taking a greater
rish hauling that stuff and for no more compensation. Personally I would not haul it if they would not pay any more. Sure you may miss
out on a load but at least they are not getting over one on you.

The other day I took a haz mat load that paid $1200 down to Fourchon, the next day I took another load to the same place, non hazmat that paid only $800. That gives you an idea of how much more the company
is making when you haul haz mat.

Please do remember that all haz-mat loads don't pay the same. It would depend on the rate that was negotigated between the carrier and it's customer. There are a lot of variables when it comes to that.
I wonder if this driver was told that he would be paid extra for haz-mat? If he was and didn't get paid he needs to contact the person he reports to and get it straightened out.

No they don't all pay the same but I can guarantee you that
they do pay more than a non haz mat load.:yes2557:

They sure do pay more if the carrier is collecting it. Sorry, didnt mean to offend you but I was just pointing out that the accessorial charge may be different depending upon the negotiated rates, that's all. :biggrin_25525:

Don't worry:biggrin_25512: you did not offend me one bit.
I just wanted to make sure my msg got across.

And another thing is I guarantee that the carrier is collecting "it".
And so should you. As I stated earlier you are taking a greater risk
hauling hazardous materials and are more likely to be watched by the
    DOT.:biggrin_255:
