As I posted before I am retiring and moving back to the states after being out of the country for 14 years this dec.
I want to get my CDL , I can pay or company paid would be nice.
I don't want to be away from home too much.
I would be able to be gone maybe 2 days and then day off type thing.
Seems like most places want you to go OTR and before I wanted to but now I want to be home as much as possible.
I am 1 hour north of Indianapolis and if anyone has any ideas please share.

I am not trying to be picky but would really like to drive a truck for a while.

There is a flavor for every taste in this industry. You can find local or regional jobs that are h ok me daily. For example, I have a friend who works for an air glasses company. Their drivers work 9 to 5 jobs delivering air gas cylinders. There are also ltl companies.

Seems like some driver staffing companies are really flexible as far as your scheduling. I kinda think you can dictate when you want to work. Granted, it’ll be different companies, but on an application in the future I think it just counts as one. I’m not really sure to be honest but @Chinatown knows. In the meantime check out

When I did food delivery I would leave out Monday. Deliver half my load. Hotel Monday night. Deliver rest of load Tuesday. Home Tuesday Night.

Then leave again Wednesday morning. Deliver half my load. Hotel Wednesday night. Deliver rest of load. Home Thursday night.

Friday I had a local route and was home Friday night. Was off weekends till they forced me to start working Saturdays.

Food delivery companies will also help you get your cdl but it is back breaking work as you have to use a dolly to unload food from the truck into the restaurants or stores.

He said he wanted to drive trucks.
Not swing a sledgehammer 70 hours a week
    Unloading trucks doing food service.

Your trying to send him back to whatever
    Country he's coming back from.

The man asked for a schedule out two home one. I provided him of one option. I issued the warning about it being hard work. It is incumbent on him to decide what he wants to do.

    I dont see the issue.

Thats cool. You might check out Roehl Trucking, non food delivery. They have a lot of flexible scheduling.
