Help me understand some weight numbers?

Yea, the listed weight doesn't include the upfit weight. I'll tell you something more, it doesn't include my dual fuel tanks or any other extra options I bought the truck with. My truck weighs 9300 lbs full of 74 gallons of fuel, some kit and me.

Where did you get that chart from? And that is what I meant if 33k lbs was my hard limit as it shows in the chart yet on the same line it says I have 25k lb tow capacity. It doesn't add up.

 

I finally understand how they got 33k gcw and from that 25k max tow capacity. So I can't calculate the trucks 14k seperatly from the trailer's 25k. Then I guess my truck can't really pull a loaded belly loader. Might have to look for a lighter 4 car trailer and register for about 35k to be safe.

I know the kaufman website says their 50 foot weighs only 5600 lbs but that is a lie. I had an option of buying one and I went to the scales with it. 6700 lbs on cat scales, I was a few lbs short of 16k for my truck and empty trailer. The one I found was also only rated for 12,000 with the 3 axles and I didn't know that I could have it changed. I don't like the kaufman quality so much. Heard plenty of horror stories about these trailers and seen a few being junk after a year of use. The trailer I was offered was "only 3 months old" and looked more like a few years old and already needed lots of work.

I prefer the tandem for lower maintenance costs and the 28k lbs combined total is plenty for 3 cars. Very good reviews for the Take 3 quality and not being able to find any used ones for sale kind of proves it. No one wants to sell their take 3. 5300 lb on the scale and low profile. 49 ft of load with an option for flip outs if I want them added later.

I'm going to stick to the trailer I ordered for a year or so and then rent it out when I am ready for a good upgrade.

I bought the 3500 because the plan was going to be to run non cdl. I didn't realize the c&c can't tow as much as the pickup back then. If I knew then that I would be getting my cdl I definitely would have bought a 5500. You live you learn I guess... Overall I am happy with my truck and will be content with a 3 car for now.

 

Do you have a picture of that trailer? I think we are not talking about the same kaufman trailer. Is that a wedge? I hooked up to a low profile 3 axle kaufman wedge, empty trailer tool boxes, full of fuel and all kit except straps and it added 6700 lbs to my scale ticket. I'm not sure but I think it might of had the 17.5 wheels on it. Could that justify over a 1000 lbs of extra weight?
Can cat scales "lie" ?

 

Also, I see the scale ticket date is 2014, maybe the older trailers were lighter?
