Thanks for all the replies fellas. Going to look into those links.
Funny, we got into this just by me breaking out the chrome polish to clean the burnt on dirt off my chrome exhaust elbows. My friend couldn't believe how the good old $2 Turtle wax chrome polish made the dingy elbows look brand new in 30 seconds. He said wouldn't that be nice to have rims that clean up like like that. I told him I'll jump on Truckers Report forums, those guys could point us in a direction. So, thanks again boys.
Has anyone chrome plated their wheels?

I had mine powder coated, but black. One company here had their new headache racks powder coated clear.
Oxbow and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
spsauerland Thanks this.

I went for the no polish feel. lol It is a white truck, it doesn't look bad. I made the mistake of buying new wheels for the steer for them to coat, they are looking pretty bad now. I just found where I can actually order black aluminum wheels, something to think about.
My tanks are black too, except for the 4 in wide straps, I had welded around them under the tank straps.Intothesunset Thanks this. -

No, I just am not polishing aluminum any more, though it does look good like that. There is a couple more here that blacked out everything including the stacks, they don't look bad, just different.
As an aside I also have black rubber nut covers on the wheels. I bought years ago when petro was selling out of them, I have never seen them anywhere since and am getting low on them, anybody seen them anywhere. I have even looked online, but I am not the best at searching.Oxbow Thanks this. -
Had chrome steel on my old Road Commode. I would not recommend them if you run in snow/salt, they do tend to rust. -
I used to love the look of 2 hole chrome steel wheels- Prolly haven't seen them in 10 years or more.
Aluminum everything- Everbodys got them these days.Boring

Been looking into this and looks like chrome plated aluminum is just too expensive. I can't spend that kind of money on something that will probably peel and look like ### in a few years. Warranty or not, most likely they will not honor warranty claiming failure started with a chip.
Got to find a polisher that does good work for reasonable price. In the meantime I will keep polishing one at a time here and there.spsauerland and wore out Thank this. -
ive done a few sets but its been a while. it turned out pretty good as long as you follow the procedures (lots of rinsing). you can do it yourself as long as u have minimum spray skills. the chrome products are by a company called ALSA. its kinda pricey but way cheaper than sendin it out. theres lots of videos on youtube about it. good thing is you can chrome anything with it just about. while your at it pull off the bumper, mirrors grill and whatever else u like. hell just repaint the whole truck in chrome.
