My last Volvo, I loved that truck, would signal the seatbelt not buckled chime continuously in near zero F temps whether the seatbelt was buckled on not. But, it never ever had a DEF issue in the 5 years I drove it.
Seat belt and shoulder belt...?

I very seldom wear one except for around town, our troopers have bigger and more important things to worry about, most of our locals do to, but we have a couple of federally paid clicket or ticket cops that do nothing else, you can blast by the in town at 100 mph and they will not even look at you, they are strickly seatbelt and mudflap cops.
A few years back I had a lady pull out in front of me, I switched lanes but still hit her broadside in her front passenger fender, (ford pickups). I was probably running in the neighborhood of 65. the only thing saved from my pickup was the tailgate, probably because it flew off. lol
The left front wheel and I beam came out, the steering column was laying in the floor, the door bent outward, my wife bent the inside of the dash outward. My head hit the roof column and I did require some stitches. When we got to the hospital, they tied me down in the emergency room and forgot me, my injuries was not life threatening, the lady I hit was a different matter. I could hear the doctors talking and heard a phrase I had never heard before. she had a CLASSIC seat belt injury, according to the doctors.
I will say that probably most of the time they help, but have seen wrecks where i would have hated to have one on, I actually saw pictures of a fatality we had up her the other day, he may just have had a chance, had he not been tied down.
It is my life, I will take my chances or at least choose which way I want to go, and probably still be able to figure out how to drive a truck and carry what little money I earn. lolBig_D409 and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -

I ran wreckers big and small for years, have seen many fatalities that looked like a person should have not even been hurt, seen folks walk away from major damage, it is a way higher power than seatbelts that has to due with the outcome of a wreck.
I am not saying not to wear one, I am just saying they are not the end all that is going to save your but.adayrider Thanks this. -

The problem is if you survive the crash. Then we all have to pay to fix you.
Now, if they just left you to die if you had no seatbelt or helmet on, I'd be good with that. Should just be considered an automatic DNR. -
