If your looking to be on the clock its mostly the nasty stuff that pays up to $37hr plus o.t. That's with Univar out here in CA. I run cryo and our top out is over $29hr with O.T. I like that I dont need a respirator or chem suit to unload/load my stuff. Most all our guys do well over 100k a year.

Plus you hardly ever deal w percipitation but you have brutal traffic so it's a tradeoff.
We here run 10 states (over 500 customers) so the routes vary which keeps it interesting.
And like you say those chemical suits in summer are brutal.

I would love to get paid hourly to drive a truck and to do it for a company like praxair would be awesome. I wonder if they're very strict about criminal backgrounds. I have a felony on my record from over 20 years ago

Felony plus hazmat is usually a no go.

Make sure if you apply to disclose it,cause if it is discovered during background it's a definite no go

each site is different so check requirements on the individual job but usually it's 5 years regular or 3 years tanker

Sometimes that still won't save a driver. We had guys clear our own background, but then we have accounts that go on to military bases. They would get popped by the federal background check and that's it.

    Dennixx Thanks this.
