Once on full ELD the 5 mph rule. As soon as you hit 5mph you automatically got the drive line.
Question part, some one told me that companies will still have control over being able to allow you to move the truck, and not have it trip you to the drive line when exceeding 5mph once full ELD is enabled ??
Any truth to this ?
Thank you

Sounds like you're thinking of Yard Moves duty status which is a somewhat recent addition.
Under Yard Moves, a driver can move the vehicle without it ever placing you on line 3. You are on-duty, but it is meant for use when off of public roadways.
FMCSA does not dictate what is or is not a yard; as long as it is not a public roadway they leave that up to the carrier.tarmadilo, Texas_hwy_287, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Oh, the 5mph threshold is not configurable so that will always cause the device to detect movement if you exceed it.
They (THE MAN) honestly wants every single movement the truck makes to be documented whether it is on company time or not. They want the assigned driver to go PC when off duty and moving the truck. If you do not, it will generate an unidentified driving event and there is possibility of accidentally accepting it as on-duty driving time which can never be edited or removed.Texas_hwy_287 and EZ Money Thank this. -

Yeah it's ridiculous. Here's something even more ridiculous - they expect every shop technician to have their own driver ID to log in with every single time they move a truck.

5mph is the speed, less than that may trigger false drive time when not even moving due to connectivity issues, mostly.
We have an auxiliary device in some of the trucks that has reduced issues because of better connectivity. -
Yard move and PC can't be edited, either, and neither can falsely recorded drive time, from what I've been told.

This switch coming in december is going to catch alot of folks with thier pants down... Way to many people dont realise there is a difference between AOBRD and ELD... They think they have an ELD and they are good but actually have AOBRD... Or are just unaware that after december AOBRDs are not allowed...
If the feds would just xhange this stupid 5 mph limit to 10 mph I would be happy... But we all know that aint happening.gentleroger, Texas_hwy_287 and shatteredsquare Thank this.
