You must’ve had a day like I did.

I THOUGHT it would be an easy run, until I got to my 3rd delivery which consisted of hardwood flooring as wide as the trailer.

Delivery receipt didn’t match the freight. :banghead:

Had to go dump that at an interline terminal and come back to get it later.

Was still done by 12:00, but then I figured today was as good a time as any to stop and buy a pallet jack, since we have to buy our own and I don’t like having only one.

Finished the day arguing with the “professional” parts changers over my busted hand truck who insist “you can’t braze aluminum”.

    Ok, why the hell not???

Nobody had an answer for that one.

Hell, I’ll fix it with plumbing solder. All I need is a 3 inch piece of little aluminum angle. I’ve seen that stuff hold back 250 lbs of water pressure, so I see little reason why it couldn’t work on a hand truck bracket, especially since it would be a lap joint.

In any event, my intelligence was insulted and now I just want to see if I can solder any two scrap pieces of aluminum together just to make some dillweed eat his words. I did it once with steel back when I was doing plumbing work because some other doofus tried to tell me “oh, that only works on copper”.

Sitting in the restaurant, there’s 10 drivers sitting in the Driver Section. 6 of them are at least 100lbs overweight. That’s sad. But there’s 2 of the old hands here, still wearing the old hand uniforms. The button up shirts and denim. It’s rare to see TWO in the same room nowadays. And that’s really sad. These guys are usually in their mid 70s now. Tough old sdratsaB.

Alright tall Mike. If that's you're real name. What makes you "tall"

I'll be one if them overweight ####er . Been "overweight" all my life. Trucking didnt change it and football in high school didnt make it any different. I've dieted, fasted, etc stayed withing 15 pounds of what I've been since I got out of high school. Stress really ####ed me and that's when I put it o . Ain't quite been able to get it off since.

I'm still here. Just been reading. Have sure been giving selling out a good think over. Going fishing is for old guys, and I've got to much to do. Besides, if I caught any I'd have to clean the dam things. I love fish, but hate cleaning them.

And now we have the “modern driver’s” uniform. If it isn’t the dirty sweat pants, wife beater and shower shoes, it’s the “gee, let’s make truck drivers wear polo shirts so they can look like salesmen”.

I never thought it about it that way but you're right. Jeans or black Bailey's or Ben Davis pants, plaid or hickory shirts, work boots, and a ball cap with a curved bill. That's what our drivers wear and most of our customers wear the same thing. It is a uniform, isn't it.
And, for what it's worth, we have some drivers over 70. Our youngest driver is in his mid forties. The other guys call him "the kid".

I will never understand people taking that little pride in their professionalism. How do they expect to get further along?

Anyway I gotta finish my 30 in the fuel island and empty my pee bottle in the trash can.
