Aftermarket warranties, from what I can tell are all a waste of money. If your buying a new emission truck, and I wouldn't recommend that unless you go to California, have these things done at different dealer.
    1. Complete ecm dump. Total run hours, total idle hrs everything. A good tech should be able to explain why our are looking at and any red flags.

    2. Dyno test. How much blow by is it making proper power they can do injector drop tests at that time and whatever else to check your engine.

3 get a rig dig report ND see if it's ever been smashed.
    4. If you don't go to California... buy a glider kit.

Yes. APU from carrier. I'm also starting to rethink the truck overall. I've just come across the info which indicates Paccar engines of the 2015 tend to be problematic. It's lesser if its DD or Cummings. I initially thought since it's been 4yrs the Paccar engine should be familiarized by now but it's a specialty that isn't easily available to repairs.

    Do you go to California?
If not I would run. Find a used glider kit, my preferable would be a Detroit. Make sure it's a factory Detroit rebuild in it. Have all the same tests done. You will have a better truck.
The emission trucks are crazy expensive to maintain and repair when the break. And ALL trucks break. My glider has had few issues and the ones I have had were unbelievably cheaper to fix than fixing a new emission truck. I'm on truck number 5. My first was a freightliner with a 12.7 Detroit then I had an 07 with a cat and 2 emission trucks... now I'm back to a glider kit freightliner with a 12.7 60 series. I will just rebuild it until I'm done. This is my last truck. It's a money maker. And that's what it's all about.

anyone "selling" a waranty gets a kickback.....the dealer or the bank......

go with which ever one you see to be the better one.

i have always bought "extended warranties", to at least give me piece of mind, during the repayment of the loan(s), to me, it was "cheap insurance", over dishing out MORE money on top of the monthly payments.

make sure you check if there is coverage for the computer as well..>!!!!!!

but then too, i never bought any used (or new) big rigs.....

but I HAVE always bought new cars/pickup trucks.....

    just my 2.7¢

Sorry, forgot my .02 on apu's
Only ever had one truck with one it was the 07 Pete with cat motor and a Carrier APU. it had 6000 hrs on it and was crazy expensive to maintain. The generator only seemed to last a year and needed to be replaced at a cost of 2k.
I LOVED having it and want another for this truck and I've been looking for a used thermo king for it. The tripac seems to be the most reliable.
Do some searching on here you will see what everybody recommends.

The one time in my Life I bought an extended warranty. My first new car, 1990 Cutlass Calais quad 4, got 75k extended for $500. It blew a head gasket @ 71k. Cost Me $25. Instead of $1200. I personally don’t believe in aftermarket warranties, on used vehicles. Almost always a scam, big kickback for salesman. Better if possible to self insure. No approval needed at time of repair. I’m sure there are exceptions that have benifitted some. But most get the shaft. What they need is emission coverage, mandated for 10 yrs. as cars are. In 2017 I had a catalytic converter replaced for free, on a 2008 vehicle, as I was also below the mileage limit. Trucks should be the same. Mandated coverage for a mandated item.
