OK So I have had this card for almost 3 weeks now and I am 90% satisfied with it. The 10% unsatisfaction comes from several times I have been unable to connect to a 1xrtt only signal. I have found this to be mildly annoying but I don't consider it to be much of a problem as I have used the 1rxtt while I had my Sprint card and it was painfully slow.

I am not sure if this failure to connect to a 1rxtt signal is the way the device is set as default or if it was a problem with a particular tower. I am leaning towards it being a particular tower problem as I have no problem with 1rxtt IF i was already connected to the system using EVDO and moved from EVDO to 1rxtt zone. I haven't had the time to contact Slingshot about the problem. I will eventually though.

As to the rest of the service, It has worked well. Even the low power signals give me reasonably high speed service.

I was at Walmart in Bedford Pa yesterday and had a 20% to 40% signal strength and it worked fine. There were several times when the signal faded though and I was temporarily left with nothing. Upon return of the signal, I had to reconnect and it worked well again.

This is a situation on Sprints part though as I was in a fringe area with little coverage due to the hills in this part of the country. I am still in Bedford but I am parked in town 3 miles away from W/M and I have a full 100% signal EVDO.

The areas I have had connection problems with 1rxtt are:

Clearfield, VA at the Flying J I81x323

Newbern VA at the Huddle House i81x101

    Love's Zanesville OH, i70x160

Shenandoah t/s, Old Washington OH, 170x186 (which is in the process of re-opening-restaurant and video parlor are open now - fuel and convenience store coming soon- for all you old timers who remember this place)

I have come to understand that Slingshot is no longer allowing new connections.

I am trying to purchase my first months renewal after having had the card for almost 2 months. The online purchase option is not working.

I tried to renew online and I kept getting the message that my credit card was expired. I tried several times to recharge my aircard with no luck.

I contacted my bank to see if my card was expired. It is not. I asked the bank if there was any attempt by slingshot to get money from my account. There was no attempts made. No contact from slingshot is shown on my account at all.

Seeing as Slingshot says that my card is expired...I have come to the conclusion that they were dishonest in thier message of card expiration. How can they know if they don't even contact the bank. Something is very very wrong with Slingshot. I can no longer recommend them as a safe trustworthy company to do business with.

Have any other users had any problems with recharging?

Never got that far thankfully I was seriously considering buying one but couldn't because they were pulled from the shelves (thank god). Guess I'll stay on the fence till I hear things have improved.

Wow, that sucks. I liked the idea of getting prepaid service a lot better than getting exposed to the wireless companies' overage charges.

I've been using them...and love them...I totally love them...my monthly charge is coming up soon...I hope indeed they are still in business...cause without them I will be lost...I'm on it now...

I hate, totally despise contracts....slingshot has been so good to me...they have made my life on the road and at home so much better...
I'm glad I got mine when I did...I just hope I'm able to renew as usual...

I did finally get my account recharged...it only took 6 days... Day after day of phone calls and multiple messages left on their answering service. Their message in their answering service was the same message every time." You can recharge your account online at Slingshot.com. Please leave your name and number and we will get back to you as soon as possible"

Seeing as thier website will not accept payment, that threw me into a vicious cycle of frustration and money spent on my cellphone calling them only to get a message.

I finally ended up calling their corporate offices and leaving a message threatening legal action and the name of my lawyer. I told them I would call back at a certain date and time. Lo and behold, they answered the phone when I called them. I expressed my extreme displeasure at thier ignoring of my messages. They "assured" me that they were working on the problem. I also asked them about this problem with connecting and NO internet access in a 1xrtt area. They gave me no answer and didnt say if or when they could fix it. So I guess I am basically screwed on getting internet in a 1xrtt zone.

The only reason I am continuing using their service is to gain evidence to pursue possible litigation against them or at least force them to fix the problems that I have told them about. I am spending a lot of money on thier service and not getting what I pay for. I am NOT getting internet when I am in a 1xrtt area. I am not having the ability to pay online. I have almost had my account closed due to thier refusal to answer thier telephones and allow me to pay for my service. They claim to have problems with their payment website.

I can't see how they can continue to stay in busininess when they throw in so many roadblocks to prevent people from paying their account. I think there is something very very seriously wrong.

IMHO, I think they started this business without having a clue as to the problems they would run into. Now they see what problems they have and are doing everything they can to get rid of thier customers so they can claim bankruptcy or go out of business in some way that there can be no retaliation against them by thier customers. I will try to thwart them in this issue unless they pay me back the money I paid for thier aircard.

I am MOST dissatisfied with them.

I just re charged moments ago...I don't know what's going on either...I called a pilot truck stop and they said they're no longer selling re charge cards...but can still purchase on credit card...

All I know is I got service...
Sling shot should of sold their device everywhere...instead of just at Pilots...I think they would of sold a lot more devices...

I hope they don't go out of business...I hope they instead sell thier business to another company but still under slingshot service plan...

I like slingshot cause they don't look at your credit or anything...with slingshot it seems your on their service, but out of the loop...

It sounds like their ran by a bunch of college students or something...who knows...
I just know I got service and it continues to work...

To me, the net is more valuble than my cell phone now...I do so much on the net..find phone numbers...manage my credit card accounts...tranfer my own money...you can even wire your own money and not have to deal with annoying outsorced custimer service....

Does anyone know of any other pre paid internet service...incase slingshot goes out?
Well I suppose I could do some research and find out...
