55MPH is hard to take but everything else is ok. Spent much of yesterday in the shop repairing my Fan Clutch. But loaded and headed back East. I had the time on my log to make it out of the State but I got tired so I parked.

If you're an independent- Make sure you call ODOT and get a temp. pass before you enter the state. It's a $520 fine if you don't have one.
If you're an L/O- Check with your carrier and see how they are set up with the state. Make sure you have a copy of your lease agreement in the truck. Again, it's a $520 fine if you're not in compliance.
If you're a company driver- You might want to check with your dispatcher before you enter. You will be delayed at the POE if the ODOT permit is not in order. Could be a couple of hours, or more.
Wish I had this information the first time I went to Oregon. Crazy thing is, they don't stop you on your way in so that you know about it, but they always stop you on your way out to collect their $520. I think the temp pass only costs like 8 or 10 dollars, but they screw you if you don't have it.
I wrote them a long letter after I got cited, and they reduced my fine by $100 bucks, that was nice of them. -

Oregon...the land of the spineless men and the Tipper Gore wannabe women who control them. Makes California seem like a great place.

So these 8-10 day permits......what if I have a Not for hire truck? Do I still need the permit?

If you or your company has a ODOT cab card you don't pay as much in fuel taxes. I got pulled over by a OHP patrol and didnt have any problems. Could have nailed me good. I was coming down I think Sexton Grade or in that area and got the Radar gun. Clocked me # 68. Asked me why I didn't watch my speed. I was honest with him and told him I had a light load 15k and was coasting downhill in gear. He also asked me if I knew he was there. I said no because I had the CB off because of the garbage mouths. Got a warning and passed a lvl 2. I had a CDOT Officer at the Banning Scales tell me the reason 90% of the drivers that get tickets is because of their attiude.
