    That’s not relevant to the question of should we wear seatbelts or not. Insurance companies would love to know who’s a higher risk, so they’ll charge them more or even kick them out. It turns out dangerous drivers (yes, it goes beyond not wearing a seatbelt), are costing much more money than the miserable 2k they pay yearly for their car insurance.

    The other problem with not wearing seatbelts, as has been mentioned on the other poll, is that you will become a burden on your family and society. Somebody is going to have to take care of you (possibly permanently) if you fly out of the vehicle and get run over, but survive. If every unbuckled driver resulted in death after an accident, then it wouldn’t be a big problem.

    Yes, I do agree that the priorities of police officers are not well aligned to risk, but that’s not relevant to whether we should or should not buckle up.

    I tasted a windshield once when I was a “cool” young lad, was unlucky only going 15 when I got run off the road by the young gal driving on the wrong side of the twisted road, barley visible from her 70’s Cadillac dashboard, probably on her way to a fun filled night of Booz and bingo.

    Decided from there on a seatbelt isn’t for nerds.

    @SteveScott

    These videos are reminders, unfortunately my brother in law lost his life in the 90’s to not wearing a seatbelt where he was thrown out of the van and the van landed on him.

    Oh well Darwin is at work.

    I take it off when I roll onto private property, shipper/receiver, truck stop...

    I think some company driver rated me out for not wearing a set belt because I had it off in a truck stop. Started getting spammed with nanny messages all of s sudden.

    I wonder how many here on the seat belt lecture pedestal have ridden a motorcycle.
