My name is Ryan and I'm two days away from getting my CLD from a top ranked truck driving school. I'm ranked in the top of my class, and all the major trucking company will not hire me because of one and only one speeding ticket on my record. They are telling me that there insurane will not cover me.
I received the ticket more than two an a half years ago for speeding 25mph over the speed limit. Im asking for someone to PLEASE help me in pointing me in the right direction on getting a job. I don't care if I have to haul dog crap, I just need a job. Can anyone PLEASE,PLEASE HELP ME?
Thank You
Ryan

That's going to be a hard one. 15 over is considered excessive and insurance companies don't like that at all. I have 12 years experience, 2 speeding tickets. One for 8 over in a truck 2.5 years ago that gives 2 points and one last summer in my car that I plead down to 5 over (from 10 over) and no points. I played heck to find a job. You may end up waiting until it drops off your record.
SingingWolf Thanks this. -
The federal regulations at 383.51 defines speeding 15 or more miles per hour over the limit as excessive speeding. As well the regulations define 15 or more over the speed limit in any type vehicle as a serious conviction. The rules also state that 2-serious convictions in any 3-year period shall cause you to lose the CDL portion of your license for 60-days. Insurance companies have determined this type conviction to be an excessive risk.
This conviction may remain on your record for as long as 7-years pursuant to the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act
This is why the motor carriers insurance companies won't accept you.

So? would he have to wait for it to fall off in 2 years or the full 7 years? I get a kick out of this. 8 months ago these companies would hire speeders and felons. Now they are being very picky. this might just bite them in the butt when all of these new drivers go back to the old jobs and leave the industry.

They can afford to hire only the best now. More than what is needed is applying for driving jobs, and going to school. If the school would of been on top of things, they would of let you know about this before the money was spent!

I will def agree with that the school surely dropped the ball on this one.
Sorry about the rant I was venting. -

Come on. In our day it was the Big block engines, I had a Goat with a 455 slapped in it. Had the Saginaw Trans and went 100 MPH over the speed limit. Back in the day when you didn't go to Jail. We had a spot where even the Cops knew we raced. Blocked off a section of road and went for it. Wouln't ever do it again, but back when I was young and didn't believe I could die. It was a blast.

Kingsson, they did drop the ball! You do not tell a student coming in we absolutly will find you a job then don't. They should have done there homework on him prior to accepting him.
You don't make promises you can not keep. If they had told him we will make ever effort to find you a job well that is a chance he would decide to take. A job certainty is a whol other story.
