I will say I don't regret going with PAM. In this lousy economy I do feel lucky to have a job. Also things have been slow but they've been slow for everyone so I don't hold that against the company.
I have finished my year so I feel really good that C1 school is taken care of. For the time being I'll drive my PAM truck while I decide what I might do next. I have thought of finding a normal local job but no luck with that yet in this job market.
My honest, no BS, opinion of P.A.M.

yes I Understand completely what you are talking about I and my husband through C1 in fort worth texas and there was a lot of thing they didn't show me especialy logs they wanted you to get it in one day and they throw you behind the wheel and you don't even know what you are doing. But i had to learn a lot of that stuff over the road. I work for pam and it's a layback company they don't hound you to much.

Can't blame a company because they are suffering due to the failing economy. I drove for PAM between 2001 and 2003. It was a good company to start with. However, I wanted to be closer to home all the time. So, I took a local driving position, which may be ending soon. Why? Because of the screwed up economy.
On another note, while I was at PAM, I mostly drove Macks. I liked the Macks.
Once, for a period of 3 months, I was in a low mileage, newer Freightliner. Somebody helped themself to most of the tools I carried. Made me wonder if the Freightliners were keyed alike, and the Macks were not.seawall9 Thanks this. -
Most of the Freightliner trucks are keyed alike. Currently I'm using a key from a 2005 Century Class to unlock and start up a 2009 Cascadia.

i see alot pam trucks lately in mich with in the last 2 weeks trying to see if pam frieght is picking up ebon saint

You're seeing those due to the lanes that just opened up for actual dedicated runs from michigan down to TN and KY.
I'm supposedly on one of those lanes, but it doesn't start until after July shutdown, which means more general freight for me!
Six weeks to go.... -
how many miles do you get with pam a week talked to my recruiter dan said they usally get 2500 a week which i was like ok being way economy is
-
You'll be lucky to break 1500.
One thing you have to remember with the big carriers and it's what I've learned the hard way: If their lips are moving, they're probably lying to you.
As it sits right now, I average about 3400 miles per week. As a team.seawall9 Thanks this. -
That's kind of scary. You guys are probably going to laugh at me for this but I'm a 5'4 girl and am wondering if I'd be safe at night?seawall9 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info...I plan on going to school through driver solutions through Ft Worth around the first week of June. PAM sounds like a decent company to start out with. The way I see it, it's what you make of it.
