If your in Atlanta, Cobb Wire Rope & sling is a great place. They do a lot of their own manufacturing and are reasonably priced. You can get straps, chains, cables, hooks, binders, and so on.

Depends on what you buy I guess.

My air compressor and all my air tools are still going strong after 10 years. I don't use them on a daily basis but I do use them all the time.

I just recently rotated my car tires and today will be replacing the rear shock on my motorcycle.

I spent three decades in offshore sourcing. I used to import dozens of containers a year of webbing for a customer that served the high end luggage, backpack, and tarp manufacturers. When I first set up that program it was a MAJOR PITA to get the overseas suppliers to adhere to the contract specifications. For some suppliers they would deliberately go cheap and deliver something that didn't come close to the sample specs. For other suppliers, they didn't have a system to change over production on their weaving machines, they used the right threads, but the weave was wrong.

I eliminated the factories that intentionally went cheap, including those that used weaker thread. I worked with the factories that used the right, more expensive threads, then taught them how to record the machine settings and make sure their weave was correct. It took close to a year to have the program running right.

I have a thing about the handfeel, drape, abrasion resistance, and cut resistance of webbing. It pains me to see garbage on the shelves.

Kinedyne is "hands down" (pun intended) the BEST brand of straps on the market. They wear better, throw better, and outlast any other strap I have used. I still have other brands in my side box, which I acquired when I bought my trailer. Thankfully I am down to only four Ancra and unknown straps. I'm about ready to buy another four Kinedyne straps and get rid of those problem straps.

As a dry van driver, I'm not super worried about them being ultra-high-quality. I have four or five high quality straps that I used all the time, and 5-10 more cheaper ones that I use for complicated loads like once a month or two.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Yes, and then open the doors and find exciting and unusual chaos. Or better yet, DOT doing a hazmat securement check and finding said chaos.

Like many said I use straps ALOT
I have probably 10 or so company supplied non ratchet e straps. A few cheap ratchet e tracks and two really nice heavy duty ratchets (the tops of those nice tall paper rolls) I also have a few load locks 2x4s and a hammer with nails.
half a milk crate full of pallets cleats..

That reminds me I need to go pilfering through dirty trailers and resupply on the junky ones. I send those on the loads going to Mexico because I never get em back.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
