Their is no reason to have someone else do it for a few hundred bucks plus the cost of the authority when you can do it yourself plus I dont trust anyone else doing my paperwork.

This only gets you a DOT number. You must still apply to the STB for your own authority. That usually takes a lawyer because of the technical stuff. There's a big difference between a DOT number and operating authority.

Thats not true you use this website to get both your USDOT and your Operating Authority (MC Number). Under "Help me Register" it shows that.... Or if your in CA and maybe some other states you need to get your Motor Carrier Permit for that state and a Motor Carrier Profile number (I.e CA #).
