Came up to Mom's for the 4th. Through her church she has a 21 yr old girl staying with her for the summer from Chicago doing an internship at Phillips Petroleum and she's a chemical engineer.....remember that, a chemical engineer.

She drove down from Chicago with her dad and I asked her which way she came down, she didn't have a clue what I was saying. I asked if she took 55 to 70 to 44 and her reply was....."I don't know streets", lol.

Mom's town is 35,000 people and she can't get around without her GPS, mom said she gets lost if she doesn't have it. She was telling me she needed a suction cup holder for her phone because she is driving around with it on her leg or lap and I said for what? She said so she can get around. Hell, you can see from one end of town to the other if your up high enough, lol. I told her if she needed directions to write em down and just read em that way, she wanted no part of that, too ancient I guess.

I asked her if she could read a map and she said yes, then I said, a paper map? She looked puzzled and once I explained it she said no. I think the look on my face was just as befuddled as hers, lol.

She was going to Tulsa this morning to fly home for the holiday and I don't even know why I tried to explain to her how to get there, I guess she made it, lol.

She's a great girl,(and a hammer by the way), and obviously very smart but holy cow, quit relying on technology so much. What are you going to do that one time you don't have it and need to find something? Find somebody else with one I guess, lol.

She/we had a good laugh about all of it, she just rolled with it all. It made for a fun, interesting evening and conversation.

It hurt for a while when he kicked it out of my hand. It was three of them all piled in there. He was stuck and I lit him up for it. First trailer I ever pulled was an old Wilson with the floor you had to lay in pieces, took a good bit of time to put it in. I like the crank up winch style a whole lot better.

I-65 in Alabama, exit 130 (Greenville).

Stopped at Bates Turkey house for a sandwich as we always did heading home from Alabama & or Mississippi. Tried to get fuel but the card readers wouldn’t work, walked in and the young lady (Mr.Bates’s daughter) turned it on manually. Few minutes later Mr. Bates pulls up... Hey Guys!!! “ always called us the Virginia Boys” lol. During our conversation he ask if we got our fuel, Yes Sir your daughter did it manually...... I tell ya what, these dam satellites and electronics are getting ridiculous he said. Then he really got heated up :D....!! You know if we ever get in a big war and our satellites are knocked out we as a country are doomed!!, hell these kids today can’t even give ya change at a hamburger joint without a calculator he said! And he was right!!! He was 90 back then. RIP Mr. Bates

The truck I learned to drive on was a 1970 Pete with a 318 and 5 x 4. During the years that I worked there we ran it out of fuel a time or two. I don't remember the proper procedure for priming it, but I do remember that a primer pump off of a Thermo King reefer came in REAL handy!

Ok. One of those deals I've always seen but was afraid to ask. When you say 5x4 does that mean 9 spd? I've seen this before with trucks that are for sale, numbers with an _ x _, does that mean the # of gears?

That looks awesome. I know there ain’t much to look at in west Texas, but they sure have some cool sunsets, if you can get away from the traffic where you can enjoy it.
