Companies usually will not FORCE a woman trainee to accept a male trainer for OTR. What is more common, since trucking companies have very few female trainers is the student sits at home or in a hotel until a female trainer becomes available. The wait for a female trainer can be days or weeks. Company policies about paying the student during this waiting period vary, I assume. In cases like that the woman student may consider if she wants a female trainer more than she wants to get training underway and completed ASAP.

She got her CDL first try...we tried all the places you suggested and they either required more experience, or didn't even contact her.... She's decided to go with Prime because the pay seems top notch and training seems good, even if a bit long...she will try to get some good OTR experience there before going to a local job where she is home more often...US Xpress wasn't even going to give her 1 day at home between the month at CDL training and month with trainer, and the training pay was less than at Prime. We are pretty much dialed in on Prime at this point because we are out of money completely and can't afford the time to switch again, any opinion on Prime? thanks for the help! I'll update after she begins with a trainer!

I'm really surprised none of those companies hired her. I checked each one carefully before posting it, and she does qualify for each one.
Prime will do the job though. It's a start and after 3 - 6 months she can move on if she wants.

It's been awhile i know....she got the job at prime, got a very respectful male trainer with over 30 years experience trucking and he has a lot of patience when it comes to training which i know is pretty rare in the industry(i think she got really lucky)...they say she will need 60,000 miles before she goes solo, with them team driving and her pulling her own weight, any guess on how long that will take? I was thinking 5 or 6 months, but i could definitely be wrong...also, does this training count as OTR experience since she is essentially driving by herself anyway because he is sleeping when she drives?

Prime won't consider time sharing the truck with a trainer as OTR experience. Other companies probably won't know the difference. If Prime and the trainer are trying to work the truck as a team truck they can knock out 20,000 miles per month.
