Anyone use a laptop stand in their truck? I've looked at the Cybertrucker & the Jotto Desk. Which one does anyone use? How safe is your machine on the stand. Tell me the good & bad with them. Do they slide out of the way when not being used? I don't need the wisecracks of using them while driving. I'm looking for a good map/gps solution. I use Delorme software, which works very good.

Wisecracks? Concerns and advice concerning safety are not wisecracks. If your looking at your laptop while traveling down the road you are a menace. In fact, doing so is against the law. You just need to run into a cop who wants to do his job.

Your comment concerning wisecracks is the only wisecrack

I'm with you corey,I keep mine in the padded bag and get it out only when i"m parked safely out of everyones way, I have the 17 in gateway media laptop,it fits right in my steering wheel and I tilt the wheel just right to be comfortable. THru the years my back has been thru the mill,I could never use a mount that puts it off to one side unless I had a swival front seat, my back would spasm in no time at at all. I try to use it before i start my trip, write it all down and a street map so when I get close I can find the place. Then I can stop and its playtime with the laptop. Works good this way for me.

My laptop is next to me and serves a SAFE purpose.

I can stream live radio into my stereo

    I can play MP3's

    etc etc etc

it is also handy to have it set up and running for times I need quick directions, I can stop for 2 min and look it up without having to drag it out of the bag and wait for it to boot.

As a rule I do not use it in travel, but at times will punch 2 zips into the search bar to see how many miles for next load so I can tell dispatch if I can do a load. This is like for my drop i am working on and the PU, if I am not familiar with the miles to next p.u.

I know a guy that runs for Jevic. He makes these stands at home and sells them on the road. He can make you a dashmount one or that bolts to your seat. Sell thems for $75 and will install it for free. PM me and I'll give you his contact info. He'll meet you wherever. Good quality and looks good. Uses diamond plate.
