Personally, the hassle of getting my TWIC on the road was not worth $28 for it to expire two years early. I understand the new highway bill is aiming to make some of this process more rational and easier to deal with. Let's hope so, because it's a cluster-flock right now! -
Yeah it's definitely a weigh the savings against the hassles etc. type of situation. Thanks for that perspective spin on it
Something potentially rational and easy in trucking? -
Arrived in Springfield today nad have my room at Campus Inn. Roommate is a lease-op who is finishing paperwork and hopes to be gone by tonight under a load. Prime did a great job matching us up..... he has the same first name, around the same age, and we live about 30 min apart. I will post of anything interesting as I get through orientation and get on the road. Most everything is already posted, but if I can add anything new I will. Wake-up call at 0545 and class at 0700. Get to see the Milennium building tomorrow evening for dinner. Take care all.....

Congrats Charlie and enjoy the Millennium building. It's quite a place. Maybe catch a movie if you can. But tomorrow is going to be a looooong day. The first day sucks, that's for sure. It'll get better after tomorrow.
Good luck to you! -
Today was like boot camp.... one line after another, filling out forms all day and a lot of hurry up and wait. meals are great and most everyone is friendly. We lost one today for precription drug issue, one probable tomorrow for arrest not reported. probably about 4 who have to get there b/p in line or go home. My recruiter said not to get my permit before I went, but it does make it easier if you have it. they got a free afternoon and those who are taking the CDL permit test in am sat in a classroom all afternoon studying. I take the permit test in the am and Jim says we will hopefully be under a load with an instructor on Friday. Off to bed to get ready for the 0545 wake-up.

Tnman, I just went through orientation a couple months ago so I'll throw in my .02cpm. The way I understand it is that it's pretty cut and dry. If your BMI is over 39, you're out. If it's under, you're in. I don't think medication makes a difference, but I don't know for sure. You'll probably have to ask a recruiter to find out for sure. But if you're BMI is under 39, I think you'll be ok.
