Hey guys I'm looking at buyino a 06 pete 385 with 508k miles and 14k hrs. With the c13 acert engine. I've have a handful of people tell me stay away cause they are a turd for power and the turbos go out all the time. And some people tell me they never have problems with this engine. Thoughts?

I m happy with my c13 kcb,.do a Ecmtuning.i have from Mr.Haney my Ecmtuning.

 

Kcb are good engines, most turbo problems i have seen are from boost leaks and over spooling. Get euro tune if you get one and set at 500hp.
Before I bought mine I worked on fleet of concrete trucks, 40 trucks with c13, one had a engine failure and several oil coolers. Most of them range 18 to 24000hrs. So i have confidence in them. Thought the odds are good considering the abuse those get

For me, the saddest day in the history of trucking, by far, was when Caterpillar stopped building truck engines!

 

Oh trust me , they still build them. You just have to put them in yourself.
