@Fairweather unfortubately rate of consumption isn’t outpacing capacity. Population growth is needed yes, but population needs to have money to spend.

Economy is strong but why hasn’t capacity shrunk? That’s what I want to know.

Well put and you are right. Enforcement of the rules will run off some people that shouldn't be driving, less drivers better rates. What I wasn't digging was that was a kind of ####ty way for them to put it, this isn't a place to directly attack someone's business. It's about sharing opinions and experience. I have seem some really good points for and against this technology.

Just want to point out this technology can easily and I do mean easily be a double brokers dream. Get setup on thier app and book all the loads and tender them away.

I was kinda thinking that too. I have not used these so I don't know the terms and whatnot but what's stopping someone from finding a way to bs the system? Jump on and take like 10 $3-4 loads and finding someone to run them for next to nothing? Basically you just gave everyone with a phone a chance to be a "broker" right? It's kinda like turo in the car world. I'm gonna go rent 4 Lamborghinis for $600/day and re rent them out for $800/day. It happens all the time and usually doesn't end well lol. These people have a app on their phone and now they "run a business".

Well I’m not gonna say much but I played around my friends account for a bit this past week, won’t say which account or which app, I will say it wasn’t hard for me to get around this issue.

Then again my previous work experience allowed me to do this but won’t take that much brain power for it to be figured out by many others if they look hard enough.

Somebody said this, not me, I am not that smart....Standards to get into our industry are way to low....Why they have to be higher ? Because current ones kill people....I don't want to go political but remember recent CO crash...BTW I am immigrant myself, just saying...ATA and FMCSA have blood on their hands for so many years now...OOIDA, while not perfect, at least tried to push new drivers traning standarts and mentorship since CDL went into effect....early 90 ' ??? Nobody in DC listened ....

I agree. I let my CDL lapse and have been looking for the easiest way to get it back. There are a few CDL Mills near me so I figured I would check them out since I don't really need to learn anything, just need a truck to test on. $4000 for three weeks, you can't learn #### in three weeks. The people that were in the class looked like the scum of the earth that couldn't get jobs anywhere else....it was a mess so I decided that wasn't gonna work for me. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere and we all sucked at one point but ######. These people just need a job and they get promised the world to sign in the dotted line. They don't want to be truck drivers, they have no want or need to perfect their craft... it's a job to them. I would like to see these new apps help reliable drivers build personal connections with shippers and receivers. Another way to get rates up is to sell service and if these apps can help set some good guys apart from the pack of steering wheel holders I think that a start. I buy, restore, sell classic cars and when I ship them I go to the cheapest rate because car haulers are the worst, like literally the absolute worst type of drivers ever (not you guys rack hauling auction and dealer cars). They will literally disappear for two days and show up late with no explanation and leave you to fight with the broker over paying them. If one of these apps could get me a guy that could deliver the cars on time without ####ing them up I would pay a higher rate. That's the good I'm trying to see in this, if it pans out that way I don't know..we will have to wait and see.

Absolutely, many of CDL holders (I won't call them drivers) hate what they do, for them is just job, not carrier and passion...I was once that white volvo Chicago guy too, got into because friend said I can make good $$$ (2008, year of recession)...and fell in love sitting shotgun, going to CA with my friend just to see how is it...guess I have it in my blood, Dad (RIP) was a local logging driver in Old Country and took me many times on his trips...2nd generation 11 years behind the wheels truck driver, zero generation American, Polish-American I like to say...Sorry got tread sidetracked...but I get passionate and sentimental when talking about stuff which makes me going.

You know it gets tiring hearing the blame of the ata and fmcsa for the problems within this industry, when it is too obvious....

We caused it all to happen and it is our laziness and selfishness that have caused the low standards and unprofessional behavior that has caused the fmcsa to react.

We are our own worst enemy, and until we all acknowledge that fact and do something about it, we are going to continue to screw ourselves over.

The issue of immigrants is an ignorant one. Some of you who use that crux don't see the big picture or understand what really matters, some owners are just screaming about not hiring immigrants because they are taking work away from people who were born here. The problem is many of those who are born here expect a job and expect not to work for the money, this is happening all over the place, from fast food to trucking. The problem is that when a foriegn born and raised person gets here, they want to work and they do work.
