i insist that you discuss, in exact detail, the subjects of pay---mileage and hourly and any assesorial pay.

Coming on here and saying how great walmart is yet not descibing the pay is very annoying and pointless.

i say describe fully or don't post at all.

    Anything less is just wanking.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
    powell.

    Ok to answer some questions:

    Equipment: Freightliner Cascadia 60in Midroofs
    International Prostars 56in Midroofs
International 9200 52in Midroofs and Flat top
International 9400I 72in Midroof (moving divison)
    Freightliner Columbia 56in Condos
    Peterbilt 386 48in sleepers
Not too sure if all Volvos are phased yet. Note: All trucks have Tri Pack APU"s.

Fleet options: Per kentucky, he mentions some fllets slip sleat if you do not have high enough seniority.

I agree. While each area may provide different benefits, I find it hard to understand why montanamel cannot provide specific answers to your questions.

Montanamel, I think we all understand the different benefits provided depending on where you work. Why can't you break down, for the rest of the folks on here, your specific situation? It seems simple enough to me. Just tell us how much you are paid, what benefits you receive and how much they cost, your home time, holidays, vacation, sick time etc. While we know each location may be different, yours can be a baseline for others.

Stop being so criptic and answer the questions for the benefit all all who are interested.

It is rare that the unwashed masses are given ANY inside info to one of the most closely guarded jobs in the trucking industry today. I have heard in the past from other drivers that the pay scale is considered "secret." I do not know if they have to sign some kind of non disclosure statement but it is rather annoying dealing in vagaries.

Everyone is welcome to post here, so long as they follow the rules, which montanamel has.

    Kinghunter,
The flat tops should be phased out by now, the others you mentioned are in service at the DC's. Some have Peterbilts and Volvos, while others have a majority of Freightliners and Internationals. It really just depends what they decide when they order, however, drivers give imput into what we want and any options available. All trucks do have the Tri-Pak APU's on them and work well. As far as slip seating goes, if you are hired as an Extra driver, where you would come in and work Fri-Tues., yes you would have to slip seat probably once or twice during your week. However, most drivers do not stay on the extra board long as they ALWAYS have programs drivers can get onto, then you would have an assigned truck. I was on extra about 2 mos., then signed up for week on/off and got it and have been on it ever since. On week on/off you have the same partner you share a truck with, you one week, he the other, and your day out and time out is determined by the senior driver on the truck. Usually week on/off is a Tues, Wed, or Thurs out position and can be a time of 0200, 0400, 0600, 0800, 1000, or 2200. Most drivers will not get a weekend off unless they have quite a bit of seniority (10+ years), thats why programs are good options for weekend home time. The 6/3 is very popular, where you work 6 days and off 3 with a rotating schedule so you get one 3 day weekend a month. On that program, you have the same 3 drivers sharing the same 2 trucks. One week you're in truck A then next week you're in truck B and so on. As for the other folks that posted on here about specifics, I really didn't think it was going to cause such an uproar not discussing pay. I don't feel comfortable discussing my pay with anyone, regardless of who I'm working for. Kentucky24 no longer works for Walmart and feels free to discuss his and that is his choice. For the other points, I work week on/off, pay about $12.00 a mo. for medical ins. my short term disability is company paid, long term is optional, I do not get paid vacation as my schedule has me off every other week, but I am allowed to take a week unpaid for vacation, giving me 3 weeks off. Other drivers do get paid vacation, 1 week 1st year, 2 weeks 2nd year, 3 weeks after 5 years. You get paid for all the major holidays, get sick days, safety days and personal days which are paid as an average days pay. Hope this helps.

Where do you apply for a job ? All of the jobs I see on the website are store positions.

I can see Montanmels point of view. If he (i think?) doesn't feel comfy talking about specifics, or simply doesn't want to...I don't see why people should disregard that and keep pestering him about it.

I heard about Wal Marts drivers getting good pay even before I was a truck driver. I heard that it was a very hard position to get into. From what I have heard, they want you to have at least a few years under your belt and they are very picky.

I think that from what I have heard about Wal Mart drivers and their fleet, low turnover...etc, it should be fairly friggen clear that they pay pretty darned good.
