    The last six weeks I've averaged 2900+ miles p/w. Got empty in N. Platte,NE at 1300. No freight till Tuesday. Oh well. Got a hotel room so I can watch the end of the Indy 500, and The Coca Cola 600. I needed to get out of the truck anyways.

    Hello all,

    Just finish knocking out a 3400 mile week. Feels good to be getting some miles again. I'm still hitting a couple of hiccups along the way, but it sure beats the heck out of the last few months.

    Last handful of weeks look like this; 3097,3455,3553,3282, and 3430 this week. Still not back up to par, but at least I'm getting back into the routine of running all week and putting in my resets on Sunday. Although in this case it took me 7 days to use up my hours. I had to sit for a day in PA (big surprise), which put me behind schedule this week.

    I'm currently sitting in OH waiting to delivery my load first thing Tuesday morning. It's a nice drop delivery, but they are closed for Memorial day and I won't be able to get into their yard until Tuesday. I'm out of hours for the most part anyways. I'll be starting next week with a fresh 70hrs, but because I'm doing my reset on Monday I will have a short week to put in my miles. I will most likely come up a little short on miles this time around.

    I saw an all time record broken today, not that it was something that I had put to memory in the past.

    I have never seen anything like this before. I first noticed it yesterday as I drove from the Dallas area up past Memphis. In that stretch I must have seen close to 20 highway patrol cars. It's not uncommon to see an increase on holiday weekends, but I couldn't believe how many I came across (and yes, I made #### sure I was in the left lane).

    The trend continued today and I started counting from the start. By the time I shut down for the day up here in Northeastern OH I had counted a total of 41 patrol cars, most of them in OH. All but two were actually driving down the road, all others were either waiting to nab someone or where currently working with their victim. Even got a good scare out of it. I crested a hill doing a very conservative 57mph to see a bear in the median looking my way. As soon as I passed, he pulled out with lights flashing ("you have got to be kidding me") and had me saying all kinds of nasty words. My little temper tantrum was all for naught though, because he flew by me and went after a 4wheeler that was a fair distance ahead of me.

    By the way, the speed limit for trucks in OH is set to go to 65mph on July 1st.

    Looks like the Memorial Day weekend was a perfect excuse to fill the states coffers.

    I managed to shut down in a truck stop with absolutely nothing to do in the area so I'm sure I will have a couple of weekly updates to add to the thread before tomorrow comes to a close.

    All I can tell ya is that I worked for both managers. MS was a true gentleman; I once gave up scheduled home time on a Saturday morning 'cause dispatch offered me a load I really wanted to take..... On the following Monday, MS called asking why I missed my hometime. He was ready to "get all over" dispatch if they'd screwed me over.

    R, on the other hand is a complete ***** and could have cared less about me; whether I EVER got home, etc. I went for a whole month without a mattress 'cause she couldn't find the time to help me get one. When I fiinally complained "up the ladder" she claimed she was unaware that my truck had no mattress. Just one of several lies I caught her in. 'Course the Qualcomm log showed the real truth.

    She complained about every little thing.... It was a case of SEVERE micromanagement. NEVER said anything positive, but LOVED to "gig" you for the least little thing. I quit after only two months on her board.

    In general, Crete is/was good to work for. However, on my second employment, they gave me the dirtiest, filthiest dented-up old piece of junk with almost a million miles on it. When I turned it in at SLC, it was cleaner then when I got it. Yet, Janelle whacked me with a $135 cleaning fee; deducted from my final paycheck. And of course, R was of no help at all in getting it refunded.

    Once bitten, twice shy, as they say. I'd never work for another female terminal manager if my life depended on it. Now, before somebody "jumps" me on THAT comment, know this: In another life when I had a REAL job :biggrin_25519: (software engineer) I worked for a woman. BEST manager I ever had in my entire life.
    These are, of course, just one man's opinion..... And we all know that opinions are like ********; everyone has one and thinks the other guy's stinks.

    Same thing happend to me LAST Memorial Day. Had a load of Bud out of Newark for delivery in Columbus, GA on Monday. Consignee closed for the weekend. This year I'm sitting on the side of a mountain in southern Colorado (retired) watching the wildlfe and sipping the product; NOT hauling it!!!:biggrin_25520:

    They don't, that is what you call a truck drivers' distorted point of view to invoke sympathy.:biggrin_25525: For further examples please consult your nearest CB and turn to channel 19.

    Crete trades out all trucks after 4yrs, irregardless of miles. They will usually be in the 550k to 650k range when they are turned in.

    Did you get the hotel another day to see the 600 after it was rained out ? I left Canada 4:30 Saturday a.m. for a 10 hour ride home . The Buckeye was well protected but mostly picking on 4 wheelers . KY had 2 DVE with a big truck across from the 71 coops . They had 2 Hispanic types sitting in the grass away from the truck and looked like they were waiting for dogs or something .

    Sorry, but with all due respect, you are full of "it". It was one of the Pete's they purchased outright in 2002 (I think that was the year). Since they were not leased like the FL's they just ran the Pete's until the wheels fell off. Actually mileage was 900K+++; wasn't actually a million, but close enough.

    FWIW, others on here have (in the past) tried to accuse me of "story telling" or to catch me in a lie. That's a mistake, cause I do NOT make up crap (don't have to... there's plenty of outragous truths out there).

    I'm sure if you check the records at Crete, you might even find the actual vehicle. They probably STILL have it; don't remember the tractor number at the moment, but I can probably find it in my log book. How's that?? Would THAT convince you?

    Oh, yeah..... another problem with the Cheyenne crew. Couldn't get it thru their heads that my Pete had no opti-idle. Forever sending me nasty-grams about my idle time.

    On the plus side, the Pete's couldn't be "de-nutted" on the governors like they did all the FL's last summer. I was able to keep running 65 while everyone else got turned down to 62. HA!
