Exactly, paying $12k for a lilttle POS engine with a ac compressor and alternator on it is way over priced. If i sit over night i rather get a motel room.

I've got a slightly used Rigmaster I'll sell to your friend ... cheap, today only. It's only ever been used on Sundays by a little old lady in a church parking lot.

    Really.

    Trust me.:biggrin_25526:

idle aire is 2.45 per hour. Bronc what gets me concerned about the ponypack is that the limited locations to service the thing.

I am a company driver. We have Carrier APU's on all our trucks. These are my experiences with them.

Last winter when it got below 0 F for a couple of weeks in a row, you all may remember that stretch were it was -20 F at night just about everywhere, I got cold, even with the APU.

I will put up cab curtains the second I park, idle for a minute or two to either heat up or cool down the truck, and then crank the APU. For the most part I am quite comfortable. Especially since my boyfriend tightened the belts, shot some freon in it, and cleaned the filters.

It is not perfect, but it keeps me comfy over 90 % of the time. I have two 110v outlets for the time I am parked, keeps the batteries charged up, no matter what I do.

Not a bad deal now, especially with all the idling laws that are popping up. And I get over 7mpg on average, which keeps the company happy.

pony pack beats up the valves in the rotary compressors. if your running the old style yok ac compressor with it's own oil supply then they work okay.

lots of guys I hear really don't like them. Brickman swears by them but he didn't have his long enough to really know

I'm thinking a TriPac is the best option for my friend. Had a negative experience with the carrier ultma53. His TK Reffer has yet to break down and his other TK reefer purrs like a kitten. :yes2557: That will be my recomendation to him and if he gets one cool; if not then I understand.
