Wow!! hahahaha!!
Could the same be said for those pushing that story? Hmmm???
Hey, I have an open mind. I'd believe that story if I could just see some shred of evidence. Sorry, but I'm not going to just believe every story that has been flying around the internet like that. If you want to, that fine, I wont fault you for it, but don't get judgmental when someone wont believe everything you type. All I'm asking for is some proof, just like all of the other stories flying around.
If you maintain it is true, just show me why you think it is true. No insults needed here, no judgments, no rolling of the eyes. Just explain your case without giving up and going the direction of insults. So far, I've seen no attempt whatsoever to prove these wild claims.luvtheroad Thanks this. -
You don't have to believe me. Drop over to the former CFI driver forum, and ask any of the drivers who have been there for over 5 years or who started training drivers when they offered it several years back.
The amount that was given to CFI didn't come up to 10k per student. But it was well into the 6 figure atmosphere.
There are still people who believe the twin towers were brought down by carefully placed charges.
You're free to believe what you want. But just because I can't produce a scanned copy of the actual 3 or 4 year old document. Doesn't mean it isn't true.
Why would anybody save such a document? It's worthless. -
well my dad sat for 2 weeks before he got his rig,and that was 2 years ago. He just recovered trucks for them while waiting. He said they were left in bad shape. I guess Werner upset some ppl.

No, you explained quite clearly what was in your CFI Newsletter. And BTW, the smar *** comment about sleeping better did not come from me.
I think you are misunderstanding exactly what I'm looking for. I am not looking for copies of your CFI newsletter, because it really means nothing to me. I want to know where the money came from and how much it was, what Bill was passed to provide it, etc. These "mysterious" checks that were written were allocated in some way, and recorded in some way. The Federal government (if that is who paid the money) does not just write checks to private corporations without *some* sort of hullabaloo. Even THEY arent that stupid (but then again, considering the most recent porkulus packages...).
Now, I do remember tax credits given for hiring new trainees some years ago, but I dont even think the TAX CREDITS amounted to $10k/trainee. $6k is a little more believable, but even then, it has to be a little more involved than just writing a check to CFI from the taxpayers once they provide proof that they completed training someone. Like someone said before, it would be more profitable to just train people, then lay them off.
Oh, and I'm not one of those conspiracy theorists who buy into that "well placed charges" or "inside job" story floating around the web. I've never seen a black helicoptor, even having been in the Marine Corps for 11 years. Not really into all that nonsense. I take wild stories with a grain of salt until I find out the truth. Typically, I find that most wild stories stem from some truth somewhere. In other words, there is more than likely some shred of truth to the $10k per trainee deal, and as most stories do, it grew from there into the behemoth fable that it is today.
I have actually been cruising Google, Snopes, Lexus Nexus, and congressional websites looking for references to cash payments for training new hires for any type of business. So far, nothing. But I'll keep trying.
Frankly, with as long as this has been floating around the internet, I'm surprised it is not on Snopes yet. -
It's never been a secret. It's just not talked about often enough it seems.
I worked for a furniture manufacturer that received Federal Funding for training handicap people. We only accepted a limited number per year though. The Fed picked up 60% of their hourly wages, while in training.
Hell, there were times when I thought 150% wasn't enough. Some of these folks were difficult. -

Example:
Say Werner decides to offer a trucker certification program for drivers that complete 100,000 safe miles. If Werner meets certain gov't criteria(ie hires 50-100 new driver per month). Werner can lobby for a gov't funded progam to fund the trucker certification. Werner can/would receive $$$ for every Werner trucker awarded the 100,000 safe mile certification. The trucker would get wall plaque or a jacket.
Keep in mind, what I posted above is merely a hypothetical example and Werner is NOT the only company engaged in such action. -
