Sorry havent been on the NET, other than to finding loads. I am Running like crazy. I need to get that dam IRP plate the permits are costing me an arm and a leg over the long run. Problem is I need ALL of the IRP fees up front and I cant keep that much cash on hand (wife is working only part time now and fuel costs). Hopefully by the end of June I will have it, truck payment of $1000 starts this month. I just got the rear end and tranny fluids changed (good for 250,000 miles) and a PM done on the tractor last week. Also made the mistake of taking a load to Idaho(wanted to be home memorial day weekend) Very little comming out of there back to CA or NV, and what did was paying less than $1 a mile! I would have had to DH 300 miles to get these Shat loads! I was In idaho falls, decided to go to reno (450 miles) to get a load that paid $2.51 mile ($500 total) mile and deliver 20 miles from my house the same day, only reason for trip was to pay costs of comming back home. Will not leave my comfort area of northern CA, Nevada to southern CA,NV. again (at least until my insurance radius is expanded and I have the IRP plate) With the exception of last week I am grossing 2300-2800 a week, still home a couple days a week and weekends. Still getting loaded and unloaded fairly quickly.
Since I started at the end of april: have had to replace a trailer tire, got a speeding ticket, blew a bead on a tractor tire (my fault as I new it was low, was going to fix it after I loaded that day, when loaders placed a pallet of sheet rock on it blew the bead (cost me $300 for service call out in the middle of nowhere!), got a overweight axle ticket- my flat has an adjustable front axle, so I can go from tandem to spread, I moved it back to the tandem setting, but did not go back far enough ( i thought it was all the way back) and was overweight on the rear axles by 1500 lbs,if I had it all the way back it would have shifted the 1500lbs to the tractor tandems. I could not stop at an intersection and instead ran through it as it turned red and of course it is one of those camera intersections, dont know if they can see my plate as it sits higher than it normally does on the front bumper, anyone else have a expierence with these intersection cameras in a tractor trailer?
Tractor is running fine although when I had my PM they noted that the U joints were bad at the "carrier and transmission" (I did not notice they had noted it it until after I left) I interpret that is that both rear axles need new U-joints??? Am I right or wrong? -
nope that we leave that to y'all
