That’s a good rate on that particular one.

 

Not all of them are going to pay that much for that lane but if a guy has one extra spot on the trailer to fill that’s the kind of cherry picking he is going to do to fill it.
Also a big boy carhauler will run you $350,000.00 or more
and then you have to insure it for many thousands more.
Take a ten car carrier for instance with 10 Porsche’s onboard at $140,000.00 a piece that’s $1,400,000.00 of cargo on the trailer.
The cargo insurance premium alone is astronomical not including liability insurance.

 

The other thing that ground my gears with these outfits, is they won't leave you alone once you contact them. They must have some network, you contact one, all these vultures know about it. I got requests from outfits I never contacted. Then you can't get rid of them, even if you unsubscribe. I want to buy a classic car, and nowadays, thanks to the innernet, they are all over, usually in Timbuktu, they're NEVER in your hometown, and I can't decide what to do. If it ran, I really think I'd rent a car for $50-$60 bucks out, and drive the car back. If it doesn't run, that's a deal breaker, as I can't afford another grand to ship it.

 

When you contact a broker via the internet or sometimes by phone seeking a quote they warehouse your information and then generate a sales list with that information and then they sell your “ sales list information” to multiple brokers who then inundate your email and telephone with multiple contacts to the point of harassment.

It is not uncommon to see the same load listed on the load board by three different brokers for three different prices.
A lot of brokers don’t even have a contract for a particular load so they just post sales list information ( that they have bought) on the load board at a higher price then the other two brokers who have it listed.
When a carrier calls on the load at the highest price they say “ok I have to call the customer”.
They then call the customer and tell them they have a truck that can pick up there car right away but the driver wants more money so they will have to pay more.
A lot of times a customer will sign on to the scam and pay more money because for various reasons they are on a tight schedule and need the car shipped immediately.

Another little dirty trick they like to play is they get a customer load and list it on the load board below the agreed price purposely so it doesn’t ship right away.
When the the customer calls getting upset because the car hasn’t moved yet they tell them they need to pay more money to get the car to move.
The broker then ups the price on the load board to the original agreed on price.
After that a carrier takes the load and the broker pockets all the up sell money from the customer.
These are some real world scenarios that I have dealt with over the years.
The scams some of these unscrupulous brokers run are endless and just plain disgusting in my opinion.

 

No different than hauling one piece of heavy equipment. Cheaper than hauling one turbine up to the hydro dam that costs many millions. Lots of loads are worth over a million dollars...often several million. I took a load to the dam last month and the turbine I was told cost over 4 million. Just another load, no big deal. I've moved thousands of loads in excess of a million dollars.

 

Questions
Did you ever put a 2 millimeter scratch on any of those expensive loads?
Did anyone ever notice upon delivery a 2 millimeter scratch that was there already on the load but you missed it on inspection because it was poring ran that day?
Was there then a huge claim of your cargo insurance for a body repair and repaint because it’s an exotic piece and body materials alone are thousands of dollars?
Did you ever have the entire piece totaled by insurance because it was brand new and even though it’s a small dent the dealer can’t sell it as new now because it needs to be repaired?
Many Car haulers have several million dollars worth of cargo on there trailers day in and day out.
The chances of some damage occurring sooner or later is quite great.
Cargo insurance for car haulers has one of if not the highest risk factors in the industry and insurance companies are not shy to charge for it.

 

There are services that do exactly that, there called drive aways. The company I work for does this for commercial vehicles, not private cars.

I have been flow into Miami shuttled out to Home Depot / Key West picked up a abandoned tractor trailer, Drive them back to Springfield MO, for the company in question. I'm sure the drive aways do the same type of thing for automotive. If your car has a hitch so they can tow there car it may even get easier.

Still might be cheaper to just drive and fly either yourself or a family member.

 

Spirit Airlinea has a flight from PHX to Dallas for 108 bucks, the others are about 215 to 220.00 thats cheap enough, maybe a 1 way uhaul with a dollie if it needs and engines, drive it for about a grand, fly back to TX. easy deal
