I disagree with everything you wrote. See post #110. Simply stated, you are where you put yourself. Go backwards in one’s life and one will get the answer as to how one ended up there.TripleSix and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Sometimes certain spots are just too scenic and quiet to pass up. US322 above the Juanita River comes to mind.

That's not always true. Luck has lot to do with where people are in life. I wont totally disagree with you, but not everyone can be a CEO. Not everyone can be a business owner. You make conscious decisions and you hope that it works out in your favor. For some people it does, and others it doesn't.

He took the chains, I saw that part. He didnt have the dunnage on that last coil. Another flatbedder was telling him about the how spaced out his coil racks were, giving him constructive criticism.Lepton1 Thanks this.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. When a private chemical fleet has an opening for a high paying local driver position and you lack the hazmat license, the three year experience, a clean driving record, and can't pass the background check then you played a part in missing out on an opportunity. Off to Carolina Cargo for you. Are you looking for somebody to blame? Society? God? The Universe? My personal opinion is that the fault lies directly on your lap. See post #110Lepton1 Thanks this.

Luck would have been filling out an app(preparation) and the employer overlooks the baggage and hires that driver, and helps him/her get the necessary certifications (opportunity). I dont disagree with you brother. In many instances you do control your own destiny. There just times in the journey to that destiny, it's out of one's hands. Those truckers that screw up, I am one of those. I have paid my debts to society. I have put down the weed. We all screw up and make bad choices. Some get caught, some don't(That has to be some form of luck, maybe not the preparation/opportunity form). That's why I am sensitive to this topic. I was LUCKY to get another chance out here, and I haven't looked back. Someone took a chance on me, and what I did with that opportunity, now that was on me. Everybody deserves an opportunity. Some of us are fortunate to get multiple opportunities. Eventually that runs out......much like luck. Then you end up stuck wherever.tarmadilo Thanks this. -
Got it. Nobody goes through life without failing a thousand times. My issue is when people use the word exploitation. Nobody can exploit you when you are free to leave. If you think you are worth more than what you are getting from your employer then leave and go to that better place. If you don’t have a better place then that is what your value is. You’re not being exploited, you’re being compensated for what you are worth.TripleSix, kemosabi49, FlaSwampRat and 2 others Thank this.
