schneider is the worst.

I work for Schneider.
They aren't going to retrofit an older truck with a Webasto. I know some trucks don't have them, but I think that most of the trucks DO have them. Crazy as it sounds....you aren't the only one who has a truck with no Webasto...so somehow...by some miracle...everyone is else is managing to survive just fine.

I dont know how you think they got info off of the QC like it was some black ops operation. The QC automatically sends data that it gets from your truck and it does this throughout the day. Whatever information they got was from your truck. I would really like to know how the QC can screw up your stats when all it does is record the stats that are given to it. The QC is the middle man. It does not make the stats, but it only records what is given to it, FROM the truck computer. Unless there is some secret government agency that Schneider has that allows them to upload fake data to your QC. If thats the case, break out the tinfoil hats.
Either way, there is a Macro that allows you to get the official overspeed and Idle stats from Green Bay. If you go through the options on the QC, it will give you some statistics, but Green Bay has a more accurate set of stats that you can get via that macro. Ie...my QC thinks Im still set at an old....certain speed. So it is reporting a much lower overspeed than Green Bay is. the QC sends my speed and time over 60 to green bay and they calculate it with what my truck SHOULD be set at, and their official stat, while more accurate, is also much higher.
I've heard that some shops simply arent able to deal with QC issues.

Also, you're going to have a heck of a time getting that off the DAC. Because all you can really do is write a rebuttal that they will put in there. IF Schneider agrees with your rebuttal, they will take it off the report.

The bunk heater is the biggest load of crap, you have one you cannot idle more then 5% are you people on crack? How the hell does the bunk heater help in 100 degree weather?! More over... I asked DBL, what is IDLE policy re: hot weather if there was a certain weather that we could idle and be okay in, she stated NONE. Even Werner had a under 15 over 80 rule!?

So apparently you should run the Webasto to keep you cool I guess. Frankly I am less worried about heat then I am AC I can pack blankets, but if I can only get so naked!

Well said! I cannot understand companies who continue to put these types of restrictions on drivers? I also cannot understand drivers who continue to stay at these companies?

I find it disturbing that the same people that tell you that you cannot idle for a certain time for comfort, are the same ones who go home every day to their climate controlled residenses.

Like you, I prefer cooler weather. In SoCal, we don't get that too often. There is only so much I can take off. Then, I look like a glass of milk with hair.

This is silly.
First, I don't understand how you don't understand companies who put 'restrictions on drivers' Picky junk like "hey, don't Idle the truck all night long using a gallon of fuel per hour"

Lets use some simple math:
Fleet size is 15,000 trucks. Ish. Some numbers are higher, others are lower.
You want to idle the truck because its 60 outside and you want it 70 in the truck and for some odd reason when you signed up to be a truck driver,
you didn't expect that you would be sleeping, much less in a truck.
So you have 10 hours to idle the truck. Well idling the truck uses a gallon of fuel per hour on average. Thats 10 gallons of fuel used to keep er toasty or cool.
Lets say every single tractor in the fleet had the same mentality and idled all night long. That would be ten gallons for each truck or 150,000 gallons of fuel each night, just for 'driver comfort' At the best prices today at around 2.5 a gallon, thats $375,000 every single night just for fuel! If you looked back to when fuel was five bucks a gallon, that would be 3/4 of a millon dollars every night. $750,000. Multiply that over a year...365 days which is about $274 millon...or with the lower fuel price...$136million.

Now...with that in mind...remember when Schneider just turned their trucks back down to 60 and 65. That was in an effort to save them 7 million dollars a year.

Kinda hard to justify that to me. Especially when a bunk heater will solve the cold weather problems along with a sleeping bag.

this is like going parachuting and being mad at the guy in the plane because you jumped out without a chute. The same people who go home every night, CHOSE that job and took that job that allowed them go to home everynight. As a truckdriver, you CHOSE that job and shouldnt be surprised when you actually have to sleep in the truck, especially in that fangled contraption back there they call the...."sleeper." Many companies haev some sort of bunk heater like the webasto installed. However, many don't...and their drivers manage just fine...even with idle policies. At the same time..many companies have various versions of an APU...while many companies don't and their drivers manage equally as fine.
I mean....you don't hear me griping about living in my apartment which gets very hot in the summer time, do you? I don't have AC. And Im willing to bet that many people who go home at night dont either.

 

U are so smart! have u ever sleep in a truck? When its daytime 80 degrees out and your cramed in a truck stop taking a 10 hr break.If you don,t idle and have the windows open.you don,t get much breeze,and the temp increases in the bunk 20 degrees,most trucks are (white ) collect heat.so it like being in a hot room.I can,t sleep and get proper rest.Plus the trucks don,t have insulation like houses.a fan requires a truck to run so u don,t drain the battries.

 

Granted there are a few limits/exceptions but,
"Their trailers and their freight"
