And if you signed their contract I'll bet the ranch they are still requiring you to pay it! - even though they could not offer the work they stated in the beginning , tell me, did they make you sign a contract stating you'll pay for a CDL training that you had already received elsewhere? Inquiring minds want to know :biggrin_25525:

Wait, I thought SNI was not hiring inexperienced drivers now. SO are they requiring Experieneced drivers to sign that contract?? I'm thinking of going back to the pumpkin, but not if I have to sign a contract.

Schneider does not charge for experienced drivers to join the company. I've seen experienced drivers come (this was during my training) to the OC and be run through a full pre trip and road test...etc.
If you are a new driver from a school...same thing, they will ask if you know how to run the QC and then take you out to do the road test. They WILL encourage you to go through their school for the 2 weeks at their expense with NO contract..just so you get a bit more experience and get to know the companies policies, the QC...etc.

So...the contract is only for the really new drivers who don't even have a CDL. Either way, I had plenty o time to read over the thing.

From what I remember, the experienced drivers (or recent grads) run through a 2 or 3 day crash course; and Im 99% sure its at no expense to them.

Right, this doesn't make sense as I don't know why they would give you a contract for a certain amount of time either.

I don't know what you allowed to happen, but they don't make experienced drivers run through the school, unless said drivers WANT to. And IF SO, its free of charge for those drivers.

I would have to agree with this. I have wanted to do this most of my life and have been looking at it seriously for at least two years now. All the negative aspects of trucking have kept me away until now.

After my time in the Navy, I decided I would not do any work that kept me away from home, no matter what the pay was. Now that my children have grown and moved out, I am ready. Eventually, I would like to own my own truck, (after I sell some real estate), and have my wife ride with me for extended periods.

After spending four years working in an office with someone constantly scrutinizing every move I made, I am ready for an office with a window, a constantly changing view and the freedom to do my job without being yelled at multiple times a day by a Napoleonic snoopervisor.

The Contract--- When I go got to the school,, The ENTIRE contract signing for my ENTIRE class took less than 15 minutes. The recriuter tells you that you can print a contract off online from thier website and fill it out. Then told to bring it to the school. When you get to the school, you are told to throw them away. They do not accept those because of some "so-called" changes. Instead it was hand out a new contract and sign here, here , here and Initial here....Thank You, lets go to lunch. Most people were brought in from all over, and were pressured to either sign NOW or go home. When did you have real chance to look at it ??? Your sitting stuck in a foriegn city with NO legal chance to review this. Oh sure...you can ask questions, but the instructors do not know actually legal terms as much and just tell you to take it up with your dispatcher when you get assignned one. After you sign and go through the school. ALL the want is bodies in the seat so they can collect from the government

The contracts are only pertain to the what they write it as a loan. You basically are barrowing the tuition from SNI and this was the payment plan to pay it back... these contract state nothing of the mileage you should get or anything else. SNI will never put any promises in writing.

I kept in contact with 80 % of my classmates and we chat about where are at. the other 20% were tankers and they have issues. But out of 26 members of my class, only five are remaining with SNI. I was 14th one to leave. This is the turn over rate SNI wants.

The recruiter are 100% BS like all other companies. Like so many I was told I would get 2400- 2600 miles a week in the Home bound program. Thats working 2 weeks out, off a weeks and then back out 2 weeks. Its slip seat driving, 2 trucks, 3 drivers. Now here you start out on this program on a Wednesday to Wednesday, but the pay period in Sunday to Saturday each week. Figure it out, Your only out one full week out of 28 days, the rest your working part time with paid 3 days average. Couple that with the economy and that is not squat for a career worth signing a $4500 tuition fee contract.

Here is a few more SNI Reasons of Termination:

Dallas TX, One driver, Sara L., awaiting to get maintenance was given a load to Laredo, TX. She notified her DBL she was awaiting maintenance and did not know when she could get a chance to get truck fixed. Because it was not a PM and her truck was still servicable, they claim she refused a load and was asked to clean out her truck. Anyone who has gone through the Dallas O.C. knows its a day & half wait for Maint. Just that busy.

Ken W, terminated for driving 4 miles off the main highway, I-65, in Kentuky to visit his kids and spend the night with his truck parked at the rural family farm. The Reason SNI claims paper toweling was a high sensitive load.

Another good classmate, Jason B. got tired of sitting at TA Truck stop in New Jersey while trying to get through Emergency Maintenance to get his alternator changed. Jason got tired of being on hold and went to the service garage, bought the part and changed it himself. Jason is certified diesel mechanic with 12 years experience. Once Jason finished his run and back to his O.C., installed the old part and then scheduled it to be fixed with the SNI shop. He kepted the alternator he bought. He was terminated, Reason: Un-authorize modification of his truck.
Who cares he got the load delivered on time.

So where's the above job ? If you think it's bad sitting in an office trying sitting in a truck stop a couple of days waiting for a load . That isn't exactly a constantly changing view . What freedom do you expect ? You'll have a qualcomm watching your every move and dispatchers telling you where you have to go , when you have to be there , what route to take , and where and when to stop for fuel . You don't work hours a day then have the rest of the day to yourself . The carrier owns you 24/7 except for 34 hour restarts and there's little freedom . Their truck stays where they say it stays . You'll most likely take a cut in income if you're making more than minimum wage now .
