    I was too bullheaded to do the reaching through the steering wheel thing. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing in the world when I first heard about it and was hell bent at getting good with one of those without having to do that.

    Shifting one at a time?

    Them old coots were hauling big weight and little motors back then. Needed every way to keep them wound up. Paul had a duplex in a Super Service White with a flathead gasser till he put a 180 Cummins in it.

    Simple. Don’t try a range shift going up a hill. ;)

    I only ran those in Macks though, which had the “big” engines compared to that baby Cummins.

    Your not that old. And back them guys were putting Cummins in the Mack's.

    This was right after WWII, later he had a 56 LJ with a 300 Cummins, Single and belt drive tandem in the winter. On Hennis freightlines hauling steel.

    Perhaps, but the E-6 was more than a match for those IMHO.

    And 43 is old enough. ;)

    I'll be 39 in 4 months and feel the same. That E6 was no power house, but man could they take punishment and ask for seconds.
