I've gotta get my amp tubes replaced. I bought the head new over 8 years ago and have never changed them. I'm starting to notice some signs the tubes are starting to go. Sounds like a good project for a day off lol.

Nuff said. The overwhelming majority have never been more than 5 miles from the house. When you see a real biker, you have to give him props for being real.

A little snap from a road trip I took on my old bike awhile back. Did 710 miles in one day on that little thumper. Stopped for breakfast in the morning, and after that the only breaks were for fuel. Had my camelbak for on the road hydration.

Daughter on the back of my bike, we have done some long road trips. Southern Mexico, Florida, Alaska, New York, and across Canada to. Last couple of years though I haven't done anything more than an 1100 km three day ride...getting weak...

I told this story in another forum...

Had 3 guys ride with me on a 1000 mile run. A couple 40 yr olds and one young gun that was 28. Young gun had a Dyna, and the other two bikes were a street glide and a VTX 1100 (Honda...I don’t care, he was riding, right?). Young gun was new to the bike set and the other two guys were the prez and vp of a local MC. Prez had been on 1 road trip, VP and young gun were on their first real ride.

Young gun wanted to “Iron Butt” it., but we didn’t leave out until evening (VP’s fault). I told him that in order to Iron Butt, you want to start early, not start late...that’s potentially lethal. We stopped at 2200 and grabbed a motel.

Next morning, they were dragging and so, we started off late.

While in a gas station, this road glide rolls in with 2 women on it. Lesbians. That’s cool, they were traveling just like us and the rider asked me if she could ride with us. Sure. It’s bad arse when you see a woman traveling by motorcycle.

We ran into the rain and rush hour traffic in Lake Charles, LA. Stop n go, stop n go. Young gun hadn’t figured out how to rest that clutch hand. Hand gave out on him and he gave the bike some throttle to prevent from stalling. You guessed it, bike took off and dumped him on the asphalt. Prez blocked traffic and we hit the shoulder and got the bike off the road. A couple guys from a local MC in Louisiana riding in the pickup pulled over to help. The drop damaged the right side start controls. We lifted the bike up and put it in the back of their pickup and they ran young gun to Harley. Harley was about to close, but a tech stayed over a couple hours and repaired the bike off the books. Young gun gave him $100 cash. Amazing, right?

While we were waiting on the repairs, I recommended to young gun that we walk to the c store next door and get some aspirin.

“But Six, I’m fine. I’m okay.”

No you’re not, hand. Tomorrow, you will be so stiff that you will be looking for someone to help you wipe your arse. So for all of our sakes, we need to get some aspirin in you.

Well, bike was repaired and I recommended that we stop in Lake Charles. The weather was nasty and was going to get nastier, and the sun was going down, and there’s road construction in east Texas on 10. But the gang wanted to keep going.

We got hit hard! We made it to Baytown, and stopped and checked into a motel. Got in the room and walked over to McDonald’s. Suddenly, BOOM! Lightning bolt knocked out all the power. No food tonight, fellas.

Next morning, young gun came up to apologize to me about ruining the trip. I laughed. No worries, hand...everything is educational. As long as you figured out what you did wrong.

We ride down to Galveston for the motorcycle rally. Young gun is feeling ashamed because we didn’t get a chance to clean our bikes up and we parked among thousands of pristine machines. Never be ashamed of riding, hand.

Later on, young gun remarked to me, “Six, you were right. You told me that in the worst of times on a bike, that I would meet the best people. I have met some really good people.”

    Yep. That’s motorcycling.
