Did he haul out of the field? That's where some good people are, the farmers. I haul out of the field for some farmers, been doing it for 14 years for them.

Course they can get a little testy. If the weather gets bad or the lines are long at the elevator. BHW you could probably do it again seems always need trucks.

Yup, right out of the field. Has an open invitiation to a little farm down by Salina to go pheasant hunting any time he wants. LOL The guy still calls him just to chat.

We can't do that now, because he's pretty much dedicated on a route now. Though it would be nice to break up his routine. :biggrin_25525:

Yes, If you haul for farmers some will do about anything for you. In my case they help me sometimes with minor truck repairs. I also park my truck on their land.

By the way, the offer to go pheasant hunting some would kill for. People get pretty serious about finding a good hunting spot.

Farmers have the biggest hearts. My dad was a farmer, and my husband was when I met him.:biggrin_25525:

I know. I'm sure he will be going down there, this past year just didn't work out for him. :biggrin_25511:

so how hard are these hoppers to unload in the Winter.say 0-20 degs? seem's like it would all freeze and become a solid..with a dump you can pull forward and bang the gate if you have to.seems like a real pita in a hopper. Thanks Walt

Meat and bone meal is a pita! No question, its thick and sticky, and at times you have to poke it down the grates to keep it going.

But loading in the spring, during rainy season is WORSE. It really sticks then. And most places that load my husband will leave some part of the trailer sticking out in the weather. We learned, wait out the rain, and don't load or even roll that tarp open. :biggrin_25525:

If it is grain no problem. I've hauled grain when temperature was is single digits. If you haul what Pharm does it could possibly freeze. I never had it happen but if rock is put in wet and it's very cold, it supposedly can freeze.

I would agree with BHW especially about rainy season.

Get a soft bristle broom on an extension handle like a was pole and try to go in from the bottom if you can. They also work good from the top.And yes better vibrators. Good luck.
