It can be, but it can be avoided... that’s why I’m offering to share my personal experience. I had my hands elbow deep in that engine too trying to fix it right.

    For sure.

Shooters truck has no doubt had a rough life seeing as what he puts it through... yet... rather own a well (understatement) cared for oil field ride than a poorly cared for highway princess.

    My opinion anyway.

There’s deals out there to be had.

Congratulations!!! They are good trucks. I sure wish mine had the N14 instead of the ISX.

Is it a Eaton or Rockwell transmission?

May take some tinkering to get it up to speed but parts are still available and if not cheap, at least reasonable and available.

I’ve had mine now for 4 years and 350k miles. 008AA311-5904-46E1-A071-12FD079D489A.jpeg

Me too @OLDSKOOLERnWV, I can say if you ever have n14 down for rebuild, spend the money to line bore the crank journals. Well actually I now feel this way about any million mile block, and deck it top, and bottom. You will now have a stronger, seasoned block, better than new

I had answered 430/470 which is the highest you can bump a 370/430 Detroit with only a tune of the ecm and the torque can be bumped to 1550 ft/lb.
The 9200 has a smaller (2 core) stock rad than a 9400 or 9600 (at least in 96) and Navistar claims that there is not enough cooling for 500hp or more. If you re-core the rad to a 3 core or a 4 core then 525 with some wrenchwork and parts change may be possible if your trans can handle the torque.

I don’t know about all that?

The meat is in the glass. I did a little to much snacking in the truck today for a whole meal before bed.
