I forgot to mention. I hadn't asked after this happened if I could go company. I really doubt it though. My dispatcher sounded like he finally got that elusive little S.O.B. he's been tellin' everyone about. He even had the nerve to start calling and asking about the truck and whether I'd keep it.
Anyway, I took care of my truck. To be charged as much as I was after they terminated me in the way they did, I felt was absolutely disgusting. I looked at that inspector and mentioned my situation and how I took care of it. "Oh yeah, you have no idea what kinda stuff we get back. This? This one's nothing!" Then slapped across the face with a charge to it that completely wipes out my emergency fund? What he said there really shifted into, "Alright kid, I gotta do this to everyone. You'll pay for what you broke, same as everyone else," kinda thing from what I THOUGHT WAS, "This truck's in fine condition. Few hundred bucks and good luck finding the next job."
That's money I earned driving! Every mile I put on that thing I thought, "Well, worst case scenario they probably won't charge me much when I turn it in!"
No. No they will. They don't tell you WHY you should have an emergency fund. "Unexpected breakdowns?" No. It's in case you can't run for 4 months straight with no time off, a dispatcher screaming in your ear, 2 "trailer sensors" going off every month, all the fun of traffic on the road, and the problems that always come up at shippers.Last edited: Jul 31, 2019

I think blurring out info other than personal information makes it look like hiding the truth...which definitely destroys any credibility...i know prime isn't the utmost reputable co but going about this leaves more questions than answers about your issue..

Prime probably knows who I am just by the figures of money I've posted here. It's about the story of crap I've had to deal with, not the amount of truck washes I'd get... Which I'd limit to 2 a month usually, unless it was really necessary. You guys just can't leave the $3500 figure I mentioned earlier alone.
The $3500 figure is a GENERAL amount I would build up based on the settlements I would see. My big problems were wiping out my entire emergency fund, shoving that International lightweight on me, and my good friend The Whiny Dispatcher. Hell, the 15 page settlement could be reduced or we could get simplified versions, I'm sure. Not sure who wants to thumb through 15 pages of documents every Friday while they need to drive a few hundred miles and don't have time to stop.
Edit:
The $3500 isn't the point. The point is that FROM THE $3500 I'm getting usually roughly $1700 to $1200.
My state has 5% tax, plus the 20% federal. So after applying 25% to those to between $1200 and $1700, I'm making how much?
$900 - $1200 a week.
That's company pay from what I've heard. That's a little over local pay from what I've heard as well. Why live on the truck and not get time off unless I save that amount for 1 week, saving my receipts, putting away loads of money for taxes, and run myself ragged when I could just go company and actually get time off without having to set money aside?
Seems like local work would be better if I can actually go to the place I pay rent on every week and use the electricity and water I pay for...Last edited: Aug 1, 2019
Reason for edit: Wanted to emphasize the $3500 figure more.TokyoJoe, Cat sdp and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Lease Purchase deal: Gross - expenses = company driver pay (or less).
Are there some who are successful while in a Lease Purchase deal? Yes
Are there some who have successfully completed a Lease Purchase deal? Again, yes.
There are several on this forum who are doing it or have done it successfully.
I encourage you to read, study, learn as much as you can about your next company or the industry in general. Ask questions, participate. You will find a wealth of information if you don't mind overlooking the knuckleheads.mjd4277, Lonesome, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this. -
Overall it sounds like you are doing pretty good as far as lease/purchase goes. There are a lot of guys that go broke and you are pulling a paycheck. Just wanted to say good for you man, you are obviously a worker and if you can make this work I would imagine you could do well no matter what you do next.
deathB4decaf and 88 Alpha Thank this. -

mjd4277 Thanks this.

Also one of the biggest problems involving lease purchase is the fact that many who get involved it have absolutely 0 clue how to run a business.... Much less manage their personal finances so there a failure right from the get go... So it definitely can go both ways.
UsualSuspect, mjd4277 and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
