Man talk about a rough ride. Glad ya didn't land straight on your head though, that would have been really bad from that height.

At least ya got a good story to tell out of it.

Okay that was downright rude Tug. You need to warn folks first. Really, the mix of coffee and snot all over my shirt is not appreciated.

Truth be told, they'd be at an even greater loss on paper, given that option. All the bluster about safety is just cover for not knowing what they're doing in the first place. More on that in a sec.

See, that's just what I needed to go back on Zillow and look into moving again. Somewhere I can park even more crap than I have, and not have to pay extra per month for the privilege.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You did more due diligence than most. Sometimes it happens no matter what, and it ain't exclusive to trucking. Not trying to be Debbie Downer, but back in my auto repair days one of the disasters that led in part to some dark times for your pal Red involved a job that seemed full of promise and turned out to be a total turd. Went into a flat rate shop looking for greener pastures and it all looked good, except the owner was a bit of a Bible thumper. Turns out the only two hands in the place making any money was his two son in laws that worked out of a separate building doing nothing but gravy alignment jobs and standing around smoking cigarettes most of the time planning their next caribbean cruise. Meanwhile, I'm on the line doing front brake jobs for a mechanical contractor running 1/2 ton chassis under a 1-ton utility body that sure ain't paying for anything extra if they're too cheap to buy a proper work truck in the first place. I sucked it up for 2 months and about ended up homeless. So don't feel bad about moving on sooner vs later.

You have to watch it a few times, preferably not back to back. You'll see the connections between the story lines.

Seems kind of universal. I've still managed to scratch up a few good loads. Mainly due to most of my peers with reefers equipped with ELD are too ignorant to exploit the rules to run a tight LTL schedule. Well that and ice cream. Everyone loves the product, but scared to haul it.

Back to the ELD remarks, I got two drivers. One, my son, knows all the tricks and can get-r-done without being too needy. The other one, a cousin, needs direction. Most megas hire drivers like my cousin, only they also hire dispatchers that can't solve problems to hold their hand.

What's relevant here, is that me and my son started out logging on paper. Using the same rules as the ELD drivers, but with the safety of an eraser on the back of the pencil. So moving to the electronic logs has been mostly a non-event. Because we can continue solving the same problems with the new tool.

The run my son just wrapped up was Charlotte to Raliegh to Elloree SC then on to Tifton. All done legal with an ELD. Mileage ain't a problem, until you factor in time at stops. Anyway why did I quote Bullwinkles cousin for this? I told my son to wave in his direction (using all his fingers) on the way down I-95 last night LOL.
