I think I know a way to keep the leaf spring suspension on the rear axle. The heavy duty ram 4x4s had the live solid front axle that had control arms attached to the frame. I may could set the rear axle on the Dakota up the same way and still use leaf springs.

Also 1000 HP will burn out a stock transmission. Tear it right out.
I ran mainly small block top end V8 cars and always was careful to have a transmission and a rear axle that could take the top end plus 150 hp.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
